Position Summary
Technical Specialist is an expert in core ETL / ELT concepts, cloud-based data management, Master Data Management and data analytics & visualization who has an extensive background with Health Information Systems.
The principal responsibilities include : perform UHN Azure Cloud administration, design and implement UHN Power BI solution, develop data modeling and ETL process.
This position will provide key insights that help the organization make data-driven decisions. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
It will assist the clinical teams, financial team, HR team and other data teams with EPIC report tools, MS Azure, Power BI expertise to provide a Business Intelligence ecosystem that transforms data from multiple source systems into an extensible platform that provides business insights and analytical capabilities to UHN teams.
Duties
- Work closely with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and end-users to understand the requirements, provide technical leadership in the development of technology deliverables
- Identify and develop the appropriate technological solutions for various data needs
- Create a strategy for establishing a secure and well-managed enterprise environment in Azure
- Define and implement the security architecture to ensure data security at rest and in transit application security key management identity, management authentication and authorization
- Lead design process for network connectivity to Azure
- Establish and implement monitoring and management infrastructure for both availability and performance management
- Write efficient and performant stored procedures, views, and functions in T-SQL
- Extract data and manipulate data to be used in presentable reports and analytical tools
- Ensure accuracy & integrity of data & applications through analysis, coding, writing clear documentation & problem resolution
- Design and implement ETL processes with SSIS and / or Azure Data Factory
- Design SSAS OLAP cubes and querying them with MDX
- Experience creating and maintaining RDL reports with SSRS
- Design and works with data marts, data warehouses
- Develop dashboards, datasets, visuals, and paginated reports with Microsoft Power BI
- Provide Power BI desktop & cloud platform, gateways & administration support and expertise;
- Troubleshoot problems and questions
- Provide support to end users
Qualifications
- Undergraduate Degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, or equivalent
- Certification in Epic Cogito BI Developer (Epic Cogito Fundamentals, Clarity Data Model, Caboodle Data Model, Clinical and / or revenue / access Data Model) or equivalent experience is ideal and can be completed during probationary period
- A minimum 3-5 years of experience in building / developing, testing, and deployment of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics in a complex healthcare environment
- Deep understanding of data and analytics technologies, ability to build technical solutions and strategies
- Microsoft Azure expertise is a must, 3+ years of experience designing and supporting Azure environments, including IaaS and PaaS
- Hands on experience using the Azure administration portal
- Demonstrable experience deploying enterprise workloads to Azure
- Experience with EPIC tools - Radar dashboards, SlicerDicer, Workbench report, Cogito SQL, Caboodle data model, Clarity data model
- Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts
- Enterprise Data Warehouse Design / Development, Data modeling and ETL experience
- Power BI Modeling / Development / Administration. 3+ years of experience in creating visualizations and dashboards using Power BI
- Proficiency with PowerShell, Python, C# or other scripting languages
- Experience in a large IT clinical transformation within a healthcare setting is an asset
