Job Summary
Maintenance Electro-Mechanical Technicians support the production by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, making repairs and optimizing systems for industrial machinery and electrical / mechanical equipment while following safety policies and procedures.
As a Maintenance Mechanic (Complex) you will
- Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, case assemblies, lighting fixtures, electrical motors, generators, industrial storage batteries, and various electrical control systems.
- Maintain, repair, install, and test switchgears, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators, and reactors.
- Test electrical and electronic equipment and their components to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Adhere to electrical codes upon electrical installation or a repair and ensuring the electrical contractors are sticking to the code.
- Work independently or with others to troubleshoot and solve various electrical problems.
- Diagnose and expedite repairs for mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimize production interruptions.
- Perform maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and repairs, following work orders and adjusting as necessary.
- Maintain detailed maintenance reports using a CMMS system.
- Assemble, install, maintain, and repair stationary industrial machinery using hand and power tools.
- Conduct high-quality spot repairs on production equipment with minimal supervision.
- Communicate effectively with customers, escalating system issues as needed.
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices for machinery positioning during installation and repairs.
- Execute preventative maintenance tasks according to schedule.
- Inspect machinery to detect abnormal conditions, adjusting and replacing defective parts as required.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and follow the 5S system, while performing maintenance across various areas and trades.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation, including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c))
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements :
- Valid and permanent Ontario Electrician's License 309A or 442A.
- Valid Millwright Certification of Qualification (C of Q) 433A.
- 8+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Diploma in electromechanical technology or equivalent program is preferred.
- Proficient in interpreting schematics, technical manuals, and drawings, with the ability to work independently and problem-solve effectively.
- Aptitude for diagnosing and addressing equipment issues efficiently, adhering to standardized procedures and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with maintenance planning software and willingness to learn for executing PM plans and work orders.
- Competency in using hand tools, testing equipment, and programmable controls, with attention to detail and communication skills.
- Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) is an asset
- Experience with Trumpf, Mazak, Cincinnati, and ABB Robotics will be an asset
- Ability to problem solve and follow standardized practices and procedures
- Ability to use maintenance planning software or willing to learn to define and execute PM plans and work orders
- Ability to lift 40 Lbs.
