What is the opportunity?
The Events Manager will support and manage internal and external RBC events, including conferences, meetings and employee engagement contests on behalf of internal partners and executives, including communications requirements.
As the Event Manager you will work closely with the Senior Managers and the Director, Performance & Events on the planning and execution of T&O wide events, including leading event logistics and creating an exceptional attendee experience.
You will learn in an agile environment where the team’s goal is to design and deliver best in class events, engagement programs and reward and recognition that enhance the RBC brand, culture and T&O strategy.
What will you do?
- Provide Support to the Senior Manager and / or Director while implementing logistics support for various events the team is engaged with, including leadership events for the Group Head, Technology & Operations, as well as the Transformation & Chief Operating Office TCOO town halls, plus forums and meetings on behalf of internal partners.
- Work in collaboration with other Event Coordinators, Event Managers and cross enterprise stakeholders to help with the design and management of selected T&O signature events, such as T&O People Managers Forum, Executive Leadership Forum and Senior Leadership Forums.
- Collaborate with business partners to create and deliver enablement & engagement opportunities across T&O.
- Build positive relationships with business partners by demonstrating competence and creativity in supporting their event requirements.
- Communicate with internal partners and internal & external suppliers in a skilled and professional manner.
- Improve the production and quality of PowerPoint presentations for internal partners.
- Work in collaboration with the Senior Manager and / or the Director to conceptualize and write employee enablement & engagement scripts and video storyboards.
- Support the communications team in preparing segment briefs for speakers, as well as for employee engagement proposals.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 5 - 7years of industry experience associated with large scale event planning (in-person and virtual).
- Knowledge of Request for Proposal (RFP) procedures and Banquet Event Orders (BEO), experience working with vendors (e.g.
Event locations, AV teams, etc.)
- Excellent aptitude for planning, organization, prioritizing and multi-tasking to meet conflicting demands, with the ability to identify challenges and propose solutions
- Proven relationship management and effective verbal and written communications skills; strong customer service orientation;
ability to interact effectively with senior level management.
Flexible attitude, teamwork and cooperation skills; collaboration, relationship building skills, sound judgement, diplomacy and discretion.
Nice-to-have
- Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation (or working towards)
- Technologically savvy, specifically with WebEx (Meetings, Events, Teams), knowledge of other Video Conferencing platforms.
- Excellent proficiency with MS Office Programs (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word).
- Undergraduate degree and / or Graduate degree (Event Management, Business Administration, Communications), preferred.
