Technician Specialist (IT Support and Automation Specialist) - Full Time

Toronto, ON

The Canadian Press is looking for an experienced IT professional to join its Information Technology team in Toronto.

Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, this role will provide technical support to CP’s bureaus, head office staff and selected client-facing workflows. The position will support computer hardware, operating systems, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, account access, security controls, business applications, and new technology workflows.

This position is expected to work rotational shifts, including early and late hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely support for user and client requests, resolving issues directly or escalating them when needed.
  • Act as a point of contact for device, application, account and access-related support.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, access and application issues.
  • Install, configure, upgrade and support Windows, macOS and mobile devices, including endpoint management.
  • Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure AD, onboarding, offboarding and access changes.
  • Assist with patch management, device compliance, endpoint security, antivirus/EDR alerts, MFA and other security-related support activities.
  • Use scripting or automation where appropriate to support repeatable tasks and improve support processes.
  • Help users adopt and use new technologies, including business applications, workflow tools and AI-enabled tools.
  • Create and maintain support documentation, procedures, checklists and user guides.
  • Provide technical support for critical business events, including lockups, elections, budget days and other time-sensitive operational needs.
  • Assist in the ongoing improvement of IT support processes and service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Education in information technology, computer systems or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Three to five years of IT support experience.
  • Strong experience supporting Windows, macOS and mobile devices.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Apple devices, Adobe products and common business applications.
  • Experience with endpoint management, patching, device compliance and security.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across devices, applications, access and cloud-based services.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • Experience or interest supporting AI tools, automation tools or new workplace technologies.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities, respond to urgent issues and work effectively with users across the organization.
  • French-language skills are an asset.

Licenses or certifications:

  • A+, Microsoft, endpoint management, cybersecurity or other technology-related certifications.

Relevant de la direction des opérations des TI, les principales responsabilités de ce poste porteront sur le soutien technique aux bureaux, au siège social et aux clients. Son titulaire s’occupe de la maintenance du matériel informatique, des systèmes d'exploitation, de Microsoft 365, de la gestion des terminaux, des accès aux comptes, des contrôles de sécurité, des applications métier et des flux de travail liés aux nouvelles technologies.

Ce poste prévoit des quarts de travail en rotation, incluant tôt et tard dans la journée.

Responsabilités :

  • Répondre rapidement aux demandes des utilisateurs et des clients, en résolvant les problèmes directement ou en les transmettant à un niveau supérieur si nécessaire.
  • Servir de point de contact pour l'assistance relative aux appareils, aux applications, aux comptes et aux accès.

  • Participer à la gestion des correctifs, à la conformité des appareils, à la sécurité des terminaux, au traitement des alertes antivirus/EDR, à l'authentification multifactorielle (MFA) et à d'autres activités d'assistance liées à la sécurité.
  • Recourir aux scripts ou à l'automatisation lorsque cela est pertinent afin de faciliter les tâches répétitives et d'améliorer les processus d'assistance.
  • Aider les utilisateurs à adopter et à utiliser les nouvelles technologies, notamment les applications métier, les outils de gestion des flux de travail et les outils basés sur l'IA.
  • Rédiger et mettre à jour la documentation d'assistance, les procédures, les listes de contrôle et les guides d'utilisation.
  • Fournir une assistance technique lors d'événements clés pour l'entreprise, notamment les huis clos, les élections, les jours de budget et autres besoins opérationnels urgents.

Exigences :
