Our client, Manitoba Hydro, one of the largest electricity and natural gas distribution utilities in Canada, is seeking its next President and Chief Executive Officer.

Manitoba Hydro is a leader in the distribution of renewable energy and clean burning natural gas with nearly all electricity generated using the province’s abundant water resources.

Manitoba Hydro is a key driver of Manitoba’s economy and its performance impacts all Manitobans.

A dynamic and relationship-focused leader with over 15 years in executive and senior management positions in large, complex organizations, the new President and Chief Executive Officer will lead the implementation of all strategies and initiatives designed to achieve Manitoba Hydro’s vision, Strategy 2040.

Ideally this experience will be in the energy, utilities or customer service business. The CEO will establish and maintain a culture of innovation, customer centricity, empowerment, high performance and accountability, working closely with the executive team in strengthening Manitoba Hydro’s position as an industry leader, embracing new business opportunities and effectively mobilizing employees to build a geographically-disbursed, customer-focused business.

In addition to a demonstrated successful track record leading multi-stakeholder and multi- business line organizations, effectively providing options and solutions to challenging conditions, providing effective oversight to large scale capital projects, managing a multi-union environment and operating in a highly regulated industry, the ideal candidate will effectively navigate through complex issues while often balancing competing interests and priorities.

The ideal candidate will bring courage, creativity, passion, authenticity and resiliency and will demonstrate their ability to foster trust-based, authentic, meaningful and mutually respectful relationships with the Board of Directors, Indigenous communities and peoples, unions, service providers, all levels of governments and customers.
