What will you do?
- Enable tracking of cloud / virtual inventory
- Manage and improve ServiceNow Discovery
- Provides governance to ensure the integrity of the Configuration Management Database
- Designs enhancements / improvements for the maturity of the CMDB and Configuration Management process and translates them into business requirements
- Define configuration items and classes, their attributes, data collection, and governance that are important to support other ITSM modules and business objectives
- Build and support integrations with data sources other than ServiceNow Discovery
- Setup and administration of MID servers
- Add / update / remove Discovery credentials
- Create / update / remove Discovery ranges and schedules
- Monitor CMDB health and resolve conflicts between data sources.
- Interpret Discovery logs and data to diagnose issues.
- Define identification and reconciliation rules
- Create / update / remove identification and reconciliation rules
- Produces management information, including KPIs and status reports, with an operational and a management focus
- Identify opportunities to revert from customizations to OOTB functions during platform upgrades.
What will you need to succeed?
- Broad general knowledge of IT infrastructure topology including typical application, server & networking configurations and how they can be documented using a common data model
- Experience with ServiceNow Discovery - 2 years
- Expertise and experience with ServiceNow ITOM products are required
- ServiceNow experience with Discovery, Service Graph framework, Service Mapping and Configuration Management is crucial
- Strong ITIL knowledge with the ability to relate concepts to implementation strategies (Asset, Config, Change, Problem, Incident, Release)
- Expertise with scripting languages such as PERL, JavaScript, Python, or PowerShell
- Thorough understanding of Software Asset Management (SAM) module
- Experience creating new patterns and enhancing / modifying existing patterns in ServiceNow
