Position Overview
With your analytical sharpness and attention to detail, you ensure processes and procedures are in place to meet compliance with external regulations, standards, and policies.
Your wealth of compliance knowledge in the electric utility industry enables you to address compliance risks with expertly crafted strategies in a flash.
As Engineering Supervisor, Compliance, you'll support ongoing compliance efforts by managing the maintenance, development, implementation, and initiation of Mandatory Reliability Standards (MRS) strategies, processes, and procedures in alignment with provincial compliance legislation requirements.
Reporting to the Manager, Assets and Compliance, this position focuses on supporting Operations to ensure safety, reliability, and system integrity aren't compromised.

In this role, you will :
- Establish trusting working relationships with your compliance colleagues within the department and with external groups and organizations.
- Become familiar with workload demands and deadlines and organize resources to meet deliverables accordingly.
- Gain a complete understanding of all MRS requirements and how they're applied to FortisBC.
- Build expertise in the standards, processes, and procedures of FortisBC and act as a subject matter expert for external auditors while also demonstrating an understanding of audit processes and concepts.
- Identify and implement continuous improvements in existing processes and procedures.
- Execute projects and ensure adequate resourcing and tools for the team's work.
What it takes :
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university, plus 8 to 12 years of recent and relevant electrical utility experience in compliance, system operations, protection, generation, transmission, or distribution engineering.
- Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
- Demonstrated experience with compliance analysis, implementation, and measures is required.
- Excellent analytical skills and a driven technical curiosity to explore processes with a mindset for accelerating business objectives.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to influence and guide others without a direct supervisory relationship.
- Exceptional strategic and organizational skills to prioritize safety and active risk management in systems, tools, and our everyday work as it evolves.
