The Prep & Packer is responsible for collecting the painted manufactured parts, and packaging these in accordance with picking list and according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
In addition, is responsible for retrieving raw materials and assembling parts as per Manufacturing Order (MO) and achieving production and quality objectives while adhering to Health & Safety policies and complying with Tayco policies on a consistent basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collects painted manufactured parts, and package in accordance with picking list and Manufacturing Orders (MO) and in according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assembles the parts in according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Operates chop saw, punch presses, drilling machine, hand tools etc., to prepare raw materials for assembly and paint line.
- Picks parts for paint line and stain shop as per Manufacturing Order (MO). Prints picking list and assemble drawings, as required, for department.
- Ensures accuracy of quantity and finishes as per MO.
- Reports MO in ERP system.
- Monitors inventory of raw material and informs Production Supervisor of any discrepancies. Ensures consumable inventory are controlled.
- Packs, make skids and wraps product according in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Detects, remove and repair defects in material.
- Moves finished product in accordance with production and shipping schedules and department priorities.
- Cross-Trains on various Prep & Packaging functions.
- Complies with all company health and safety policies and procedures at all times. Without limitation, wears Personal Protective Equipment at all times in accordance with Tayco's policies.
- Maintains a clean and well-organized work area; works in conjunction with afternoon shift employees to do so.
- Provides SOP process familiarization and orientation.
- Works overtime as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned from time to time at the discretion of management.
Requirements
To be able to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No previous work experience recommended exposure to a manufacturing environment.
- Is able to operate hand tools (drills, pneumatic guns, wrapping machines etc.)
- Is able to effectively both independently or as a part of a team.
- Is able to achieve results and drive efficiencies in their day to day work.
- Is able to take initiative and demonstrate pro-active problem solving in their day to day work.
- Is able to understand, speak, read and write English. Must be able to understand verbal and written work instructions, which are typically routine, as accuracy and attention to detail is necessary.
In addition, must be able to speak, read and understand health and safety procedures, document work, train others, problem solve in teams, learn new work processes and participate in continuous learning and weekly team meetings.
- Is able to work independently or as a part of a team.
- Is able to understand and follow established personal safety, security, and environmental practices. Is knowledgeable of, and compliant with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Occupation Health and Safety Act (OSHA).
- Is able to lift materials up to 50 pounds and to carry, move, manipulate and / or position them and to move, bend, twist or maintaining awkward body positions while performing work.
- Has good hand and eye co-ordination and muscular control sufficient to operate tools or equipment and to see closely and / or listen intently in order to achieve very detailed results and / or detect flaws or errors.
