Here’s the opportunity :

As an experienced fundraising professional, the Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts at Futurpreneur will play a pivotal role in securing significant contributions that fuel our mission to empower young entrepreneurs across Canada.

This position will be responsible for developing and executing targeted fundraising strategies that increase awareness, engagement, and major gifts from individual donors.

Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, you will be instrumental in cultivating relationships, orchestrating impactful fundraising initiatives, and diversifying our funding base from high-net-worth individuals and foundations.

The incumbent is responsible for the full scope of activities related to the design, cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship of a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors from identifying prospects, developing strategies to promoting loyal giving by soliciting gifts (both independently and in conjunction with Senior Leadership and Board members), and donor stewardship.

This is a permanent, full-time position located in Toronto, Ontario . The incumbent will be working on our hybrid work model (minimum 2 days in the office per week).

What you will do :

Portfolio and Pipeline Development – 30%

  • Design and implement a major gift strategy to secure funds to diversify our funding base
  • Proactively identify, qualify, and cultivate high-potential donors using targeted research and networking.
  • Cultivate new and diverse funding relationship opportunities and strategically manage a portfolio of existing donors.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, including Leadership and Board members to tailor proposals that resonate with donors’

interests and maximize potential funding.

  • Develop effective donor-centred materials, such as impact reports and proposals, to clearly demonstrate the value and impact of contributions.
  • Participate in and contribute to donor events, enhancing relationships and furthering engagement.

Major Donor Engagement and Stewardship – 60%

  • Develop and nurture lasting relationships with major and individual gift donors to meet and exceed revenue targets.
  • Design and implement tailored engagement strategies that align donor interests with Futurpreneur’s strategic priorities, ensuring a sustained partnership
  • Execute and evaluate comprehensive fundraising strategies, including engagement with private funders, foundations, legacy and major gifts, special appeals, and fundraising events
  • Manage the complete cycle of donor engagement from initial contact through to the negotiation and finalization of major gifts.
  • Prepare customized major gift proposals, negotiate and bring solicitations to closure both independently and in conjunction with senior leaders.
  • Organize strategic meetings between donors and Futurpreneur’s senior leaders, delivering persuasive presentations and compelling communication that secures long-term engagement.
  • Maintain rigorous stewardship practices to ensure donors are recognized and informed about the impact of their contributions.

Development and Strategic Planning – 10%

  • Establish and build the major gifts portfolio by aligning initiatives with Futurpreneur’s strategic objectives.
  • Set and monitor performance metrics to effectively scale fundraising efforts and meet ambitious targets.
  • Coordinate with the leadership team to optimize fundraising strategies and operations.

What you will bring :

  • Relevant experience may include education with a focus in Business, Marketing, or Non-Profit Management, Public policy or equivalent hands-on career experience
  • A minimum of five years of experience in fundraising with a proven track record of soliciting gifts and a commitment to ethical best practices.
  • A Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) credential is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in securing major gifts, leading fundraising campaigns, gift planning, prospect management and donor relations
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging and influencing a wide range of stakeholders, including senior executives and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute fundraising strategies that meet or exceed targets.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate and refine fundraising approaches based on performance data and changing organizational needs.
  • Strong writing skills including grant writing, fundraising appeals, case statements and other development related materials.
  • Proficiency in using fundraising databases and CRM systems.
  • Flexibility to attend events outside of usual work hours, when required.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, standards and / or guidelines considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is also an asset.
