Job Description

We are currently seeking a Bank Analyst to join our high-performing Finance team in Winnipeg to support our growing business and strategic plan.

The Bank Analyst is responsible for ensuring all bank transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled, and for supporting month-end close processes ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the integrity of financial information in the general ledger.

The Bank Analyst supports the accounting team management with implementation of standardized processes, key performance indicators (KPIs), and controls and procedure documentation with a shared services mindset.

The Bank Analyst will :

  • Ensure accurate and timely recognition of banking transactions including deposits and withdrawals for managements review and posting in the general ledger.
  • Download bank statements and prepare bank reconciliations for management review.
  • Investigate and resolve any variances, including following-up with Financial Institutions, the Treasury team, and other internal teams to obtain clarification on transactions and resolve outstanding variances.
  • Support senior accountants and management with month-end close activities, enabling timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Support management in updating process documentation and guidelines.
  • Maintain effective internal control processes to safeguard company assets and ensure financial data integrity.
  • Support the external audit by providing necessary documentation and analysis.
  • Participate in integration of acquired companies into accounting function.
  • Support process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives to streamline accounting operations, as required.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

To be successful as a Bank Analyst with People Corporation, you will need :

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • In the early stages of obtaining a CPA designation, or ready to enroll in the CPA program.
  • Relevant accounting experience, with specific experience in month-end close processes.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manipulate financial data.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.

All-star candidates will have :

  • Bilingual with proficiency, both verbally and written, in English and French is an asset.
  • Work experience with a major accounting firm.
  • Proficiency in using Workday software.
  • Acquisition and integration experience.
