Position OverviewA Project Manager in Commercial Glazing oversees and manages construction projects related to glass installations in commercial buildings.
They ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications, while also maintaining high-quality standards and adhering to safety regulations.
Accountabilities Analyze architectural drawings and other documentation to successfully deliver projects with specification compliant products, on time and within budget.
Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricingManagement of Projects for the full project lifecycle from Award to HandoverReview and issue shop drawings for client approval.
Obtain and submit samples for client approval.Material take-off and orderingLiaise with the fabrication team to ensure timely delivery of material to site.
Site visits to review progress and quality.Cost control of material, labour, equipment, subcontracts, construction facilities, etc.
Foster relationships with customers, subcontractors and suppliers.Selection of subcontractors and suppliers based on specified products and cost.
Develop and review subcontractor scopes of work and quotes for best value.Prepare project schedules and ascertain labour requirements.
Maintain files of working documents for back-up as may be required.Update cost forecasts at least monthly and escalate concerns where necessary.
Prepare and issue Operation and Maintenance and Warranty documentation.Prepare any other necessary documentation as required for the project.
Some out of town travel may be necessary.Education A bachelor's degree construction management, engineering, or related field preferred or a comparable level of extensive experience will be taken into consideration.
Experience / CapabilitiesMinimum of 2 years Project Management experience in the Commercial Glazing industry.Advanced Project Management skills that include good knowledge of aluminum glazing systems to effectively communicate with business owners, decision makers, engineers, product managers, project managers, engineers, and vendors.
Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, etc.Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision while exercising great judgment.
Strong ability to multitask, prioritize and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills and strong attention to detailComputer skills in Microsoft Office (word / excel / email) and organising files (ie.
OneDrive, Procore, Dropbox, FTP, etc.)Field construction experience is desirable, but not mandatory.Previous estimating experience would be an asset.
