Company Description

We are currently hiring Personal Support Workers (PSWs) and Home Support Workers (HSWs) for Overnight shifts (10 hour shift =$160 ; 12 hour shift = $200) in York region including: Durham (Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa), Vaughan (Concord, Maple, King City, Kleinburg), Markham, Keswick, Thornhill, Richmond Hill and Scarborough .

In this role, you will be a valued and trusted overnight companion to a senior, helping them with day-to-day living activities including personal care, meal preparation and light housekeeping duties. You will also encourage and assist the senior in engaging in exercise, leisure and social activities to promote physical and mental wellbeing.

Job Description

• Provides companionship and support for clients including both “awake” coverage and “resting” coverage
• Bedside sitting for clients in long term care/retirement facilities, or in private residences
• Assist clients with household tasks (ex: light meal prep and housekeeping)
• Assist clients with mobility
• Listen, observe and communicate any concerns/changes in the client’s physical, emotional and/or environmental condition

Qualifications

• Have one of the following qualifications (required):Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program or Supportive Care Worker Certificate, Health Care Aide Certificate or completion of Term 1 of a PSW programRN/RPN Student who with a minimum successful completion of year one of the programInternationally licensed Nurse, Midwife or Physician
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the job (ex: ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach freely for extended periods, ability to lift 23 kg independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting; able to reposition clients in bed)
• Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service
• Valid First Aid and Level C CPR
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check
• Updated TB Test (last 6 months)
• Proficient verbal and written English communication skills (Additional language skills considered an asset)
