Job descriptionA Master of Divinity (M Div.) or equivalent from an ATS-accredited institution Previous leadership experience preferred Strong leadership, discipleship, and communication skills Ability to work in a team and adapt to a diverse church environment Preaching and Worship Leadership : Coordinate Sunday services, preach regularly, administer communion, and plan special services. Pastoral Care : Develop lay leaders for pastoral care, be available for crises, weddings, funerals, and hospital visits. Administrative Guidance : Support committees, staff, and church board; conduct training for effective leadership. Facilitating Transition : Assist the congregation in assessing its ministry, clarifying its vision, and preparing for a new senior pastor. Work with Indwell for a smooth transition during renovations. Teaching and Discipleship : Support the fall 2025 discipleship plan rollout and lead a discipleship group. Relationship Building : Foster positive relationships within the church and broader community. Strong preaching and teaching skills Pastoral sensitivity and care Effective communication and interpersonal skills Organizational abilities

Description
WBC will need an Interim Pastor, beginning in the fall of 2025, for 25-30 hours per week. This position is anticipated to last for at least 1 year, with extensions to this time being re-assessed by both the Interim Pastor and the Board of the church.
WBC recognizes that the primary goal of our Interim Pastor will be to guide the church through a time of change and prepare it for its next chapter.
Overview of Church and Community
Wentworth Baptist Church has been located in the Gibson-Landsdale neighbourhood of Hamilton since 1890. We are a congregation of about 60 people.
Wentworth has formed ministry partnerships that we value :
- Our building is now owned by Indwell – a Christian charity that creates affordable housing communities supporting people seeking health, wellness, and belonging. We are in partnership with them, awaiting a renovation to our main building that will provide refreshed ministry space. We will be welcoming 50 individuals to new apartments beside this building.
- On Tuesday evenings, a community meal is served from our church in partnership with Lift Church and their “Serve our City” ministry.
- We are connected to a network of congregations concerned for the good of Hamilton ( True City ).
- We have built strong pastoral relationships with other CBOQ churches in the Niagara Hamilton Association. Pastors meet monthly for lunch in the Hamilton area.
- We have close relationships with the Greater Ontario House of Prayer (GOHOP), sharing ministry space until recently.
We are a growing, international church seeking an Interim Pastor to lead us through a short-term physical move and to embrace new opportunities God is presenting.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
WBC seeks an interim pastor who affirms the CBOQ statement of faith “This We Believe,” practices spiritual disciplines, and exhibits qualities of a Christ-like character (e.g., Beatitudes, Fruit of the Spirit).
