Group Financial Controller
Construction | Manufacturing -
Langley, British Columbia
$130-$140K base, plus bonus, RRSP matching

This role will support a private, multi-entity manufacturing organization, the Group Controller is a senior finance leadership role responsible for overseeing financial operations, reporting, planning, and systems management. Reporting to executive leadership, this position plays a key role in strategic decision-making, operational performance, and organizational growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide financial leadership and strategic support to senior management and stakeholders
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning activities
  • Develop and maintain KPI reporting related to sales, margins, productivity, and operational performance
  • Translate financial information into actionable business insights to support decision-making
  • Support strategic initiatives, continuous improvement projects, and operational efficiencies
Financial Reporting, Compliance & Controls
  • Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and management reporting
  • Lead annual audit, tax planning, and regulatory compliance processes
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and financial procedures
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities through analysis and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Act as the lead for ERP and financial systems oversight, optimization, and future implementations
  • Drive process improvements and reporting enhancements across the finance function
  • Evaluate and implement systems and tools to support operational growth and efficiency
Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team
  • Establish department objectives, monitor performance, and support employee development
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the organization
Additional Responsibilities
  • Oversee contractual and administrative financial matters including insurance, leases, and agreements
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and cross-functional initiatives as required
  • Limited travel may be required between operating locations

Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA designation in good standing required
  • 7-10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably within manufacturing or industrial operations
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing teams
  • Strong understanding of ASPE, financial reporting, internal controls, and operational finance
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP experience considered an asset)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information to operational and executive audiences
  • Highly organized with exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of business operations, financial systems, and process improvement initiatives
