Job description

Our customer is currently looking for one or more Business Analysts in Regina. This would be an 12 month engagement, with the possibility of several six month extensions. The start date of this engagement would be as soon as possible (December 2010).

The successful candidate(s) will have significant knowledge of business and system analysis methodologies and techniques, information modeling tools, facilitation methods, and project management methodologies. Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained through the completion of a degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Computer Science or related discipline, along with a significant amount of relative experience.

Project Duties of Resource:

The Business Analyst is responsible for:

· Working independently and as part of a team supporting one or more projects in business analysis and project related activities

· Organizing one’s own workload to meet tight deadlines and successfully completing projects in a changing environment

· Business Process Modeling (AS-IS and TO-BE)

· Documenting Use Cases based on Business Process Models

· Eliciting, documenting and communication of functional and non-functional requirements for software application and business process development

· Identifying, exploring and evaluating options on data, processes and methodologies, information technology and potential systems design to make feasible recommendations;

· Creating, documenting, and executing test strategy, plans and scripts

· Documenting and delivering training of internal and external resources

· Writing a variety of detailed, accurate and clear (technical) material such as user, systems and requirements documentation and procedures, project plans, letters, requests for proposals, feasibility studies, recommendations and reports, at a level appropriate to the target groups

· Facilitating meetings and workshops to present and capture ideas and/or facilitating group processes to successfully implement technological change and business transition within the organization

· Compiling and synthesizing information related to both organizational and technical change management.

· Supporting and executing implementation strategies and plans.

· From time to time, assisting with or performing Project Management and Architecture related duties.

Qualifications or Skills Description:

Preferred skills are:

· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, with varying stakeholder groups.

· Demonstrated experience of strong facilitation skills, with the ability to organize and facilitate workshops, interviews, and meetings, mindful of the impact of organizational change, with both ministry staff and technical groups.

· Experience in analyzing, synthesizing, documenting and communicating business information into technical specifications as well as simplifying complex technical information into business language.

· Experience in creating, planning and executing testing strategies to support business process and software development quality assurance

· Experience in business analysis methods, practices and in developing business and technical requirements.

· Ability to model business processes using BPM notation.

· Experience in software development lifecycle activities in an integrated technical environment

· Experience with information technology best practices for software development and ongoing release and change management.

· Experience in developing and enhancing tools and methods for use in Business Analysis and Quality Assurance activities.

· Experience working well with an integrated team of both business and technical resources

· Experience using, or certification with ProSci Change Management methodology is considered an asset.

· Experience as an IT Architect is considered an asset

· Experience as a Project Manager is considered an asset
