VIA Rail Canada Inc., Canada's national passenger rail service, is currently hiring for Diesel Engine Mechanics to work at our esteemed Vancouver Maintenance Center (or mission maintenance center).
As a Diesel Engine Mechanic, you will carry out preventive maintenance and execute repairs on locomotives and rolling stock.
You will bring your skills to determine the causes of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic defects on fascinating locomotives and perform the repairs.
You will also conduct inspections and maintenance on the locomotives in compliance with VIA’s preventive maintenance program.
The position is permanent (40 hours per week guaranteed) and the work schedule may vary (day, evening, night, weekend, and holidays).
Candidates must be available to work any day of the week as the Maintenance Center is open 7 days a week, 24h during peak season.
What is in it for you?
- Permanent position (40 hours per week guaranteed, with overtime available)
- Hourly salary : $38.49-$46.43 / h
- Evening and night shift differentials : $1.50 and $2.00 per hour, respectively
- $1 / H red seal premium
- Full benefits : Dental, medical, pension plan, ride pass, 5 personal days + vacations
- PPE (boots, glasses, helmet, vest, gloves), tools and uniforms are provided.
