Department: Pollution Control Union: Non-Union Position Status: Regular Full-Time Job Code: NU0171 Grade/Class: NU12 Number of Positions: 1 Rate of Pay: $106,903.33 – $129,942.31 Annually Shift Work Required: No Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Manager, Process Engineering & Maintenance, this position will be responsible for: Directly supervise pollution control mechanical maintenance staff and contractors working in Pollution Control plants, pumping stations and other City facilities as required; Supervises staff, conducts performance evaluations, discipline, training and development of maintenance staff, and performs ongoing employee lost time review; Responsible for ensuring all appropriate mechanical operating procedures are adhered to with respect to operation and maintenance, to comply with Occupational Health & Safety Act and TSSA requirements; Administer preventative maintenance program, maintain records and prepare instructions; Ensures efficient and cost effective performance; Keeps accurate records to ensure integrity, prepare reports on the operation and maintenance of various facilities; Maintain drawings and procedures to ensure they are accurate and up to date; Maintains attendance, accident, and other records; Ensures staff familiarity and compliance with all provincial safety legislation and corporate safety policies; Responsible for specific budget-related tasks; Informs the Manager or Senior staff of significant developments; Assist in the development of new and replacement equipment specifications; Replaces other Supervisors when required; Maintains amiable relations with the public and fellow staff.

Perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program; Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications: Must have a Master’s Degree in Engineering or related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of one (1) years of experience in an operations/industrial environment; OR Must have a University Degree in Engineering or related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in an operations/industrial environment; OR Must have a three (3) year post-secondary school community College diploma in Engineering Technology or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in an operations/industrial environment; OR Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus one (1) year post-secondary in Engineering Technology or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of six (6) years of experience in an operations/industrial environment; Must possess or be able to obtain with 90 days a Ministry of Environment Wastewater Treatment OIT Certification and have the ability to obtain a Class I within 3 years of employment; Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class G Driver's License in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment.

Must have operating knowledge of Microsoft Suite of Products, such as Word, Excel, and Access in a computerized environment; Experience working with and administering CMMS (Computer maintenance management system) is an asset; Must be able to interpret technical and construction drawings; Must be knowledgeable in pumping systems, valves, piping, blowers and compressors, and related rotating process equipment; Must have a working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, SCADA telemetry and standby diesel power generation; Must have progressively responsible industrial or related experience in wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation; Must have proven experience in contract administration, budget control and monitoring and personnel supervision in a computerized and unionized environment; Must have proven technical, communication and interpersonal skills; Must have thorough knowledge of appropriate safety, labour, and construction acts, regulations and codes associated with the work; Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work.

Will be required to complete and remain current as per the requirements of the Corporation’s Management Certificate Program.

Progression through the Art of Supervision Program Certificate or a supervisory program of a similar nature is considered an asset.
