Role Overview
The Regional Accounts Manager is a strategic, relationship-driven sales role responsible for driving long-cycle, high-value capital equipment, modernization, and upgrading projects across North America.
This role is ideal for a true hunter-consultant — someone who understands that success in complex industrial sales is built over time through trust, technical credibility, and disciplined opportunity management, not transactional activity.
Success in this role is measured by:
- Growth of capex, modernization, and upgrade revenue
- Expansion of strategic customer relationships
- Pipeline quality and forecast accuracy
- Ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder buying environments
- Cross-functional execution with parts, service, and global commercial teams
Why This Role Exists
Raute continues to invest in its North American growth strategy, supporting customers who are modernizing operations, improving sustainability, and expanding capacity. This role exists to:
- Proactively developing new strategic accounts
- Deepen relationships with existing customers
- Position Raute as a long-term partner, not just an equipment supplier
- Capture full-lifecycle value across machinery, upgrades, parts, and services
Core Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development:
- Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities across North America
- Drive revenue growth through capital equipment, modernizations, and upgrades
- Develop new customer relationships while expanding existing strategic accounts
- Maintain a disciplined, opportunity-driven sales process aligned with Raute standards
Consultative & Solution-Based Selling:
- Develop a deep understanding of customer operations, objectives, and constraints
- Anticipate unstated needs and position Raute solutions accordingly
- Align Raute’s products and services with customers’ short- and long-term strategies
- Navigate complex stakeholder groups with patience and commercial discipline
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with parts and service teams to maximize lifecycle value
- Work closely with Commercial Excellence teams in North America and Finland
- Support development of annual sales and marketing plans
- Provide accurate forecasts, sales data, and market insights
Sales Operations & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate CRM records and customer account documentation
- Prepare monthly sales forecasts and quarterly sales reviews
- Develop and analyze market sales reports and performance data
- Ensure sales administration aligns with customer and operational requirements
Market & Industry Representation:
- Maintain awareness of competitors, technology trends, and market dynamics
- Represent Raute at trade shows, open houses, and industry groups
- Build and maintain strong professional networks within the engineered wood sector
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience selling industrial equipment or wood processing machinery
- Strong working knowledge of processing machinery; engineered wood industry preferred
- Proven ability to develop new business with both small and large organizations
- Demonstrated success managing long, complex sales cycles
- Strong business analysis and forecasting capability
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, CRM systems, and exposure to ERP
- Ability to travel up to 50% across Canada and the U.S. Valid passport and driver’s license
Preferred Background
- Degree or diploma in Electrical Technology, Business, or related field
- Trade experience or hands-on technical background
- Deep technical understanding of wood processing or engineered wood manufacturing
Success Traits (What “Great” Looks Like)
- Strategic, patient, and persistent hunter mindset
- High commercial discipline with strong follow-through
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Ability to build trust quickly and maintain long-term relationships
- Self-starter who thrives with autonomy and accountability
- Calm, professional demeanor in high-pressure environments
Why Join Raute
- Meaningful Impact: Contribute to the future of sustainable engineered wood production
- Strategic Sales Role: Long-cycle, high-value, consultative selling — not transactional
- Global Leader: Work with a respected, innovation-driven organization
- Total Rewards: Competitive compensation, bonus potential, benefits, and RRSP matching
- Development: Tuition reimbursement and professional growth opportunities
- Culture: Values-driven, collaborative, inclusive, and people-first environment
