Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Nurses to join our mental health team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in Psychiatry and be committed to providing high-quality patient care in a hospital setting. As a Mental Health Nurse, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating mental health disorders, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments of patients, particularly children.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and medical history.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Provide psychotherapy and medication management as part of the treatment process.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including psychologists, social workers, and primary care physicians, to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including data collection related to treatment outcomes.
  • Stay current with advancements in psychiatric medicine and participate in ongoing professional development.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology related to psychiatry and mental health.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
  • Experience in data collection methods for assessing treatment effectiveness.
  • Compassionate approach towards patients, especially children, with the ability to build rapport quickly.

    Rate

    $90 / HR

    Qualifications

  • Active NSCN registration (Nova Scotia RN License)
