Brief Description
The Recreation Programmer plays an integral role in ensuring that LaSalle continues to build on our high quality of life by providing overall support to the Culture and Recreation department for the creation, development, and implementation of Town‑led and third‑party festivals and events. Reporting to the Supervisor of Recreation, this position is responsible for supporting all event operations on Town properties and works in collaboration with others for the successful delivery of various community festivals and events, designed to meet the needs and interests of the community. This position is responsible for providing direction to front line staff, maintaining accurate employee records, employee scheduling, and maintaining a safe work environment. Other duties include organizing tasks related to festivals and events to ensure effective operations including but not limited to event data entry, event additions / changes / cancellations, event logistics, records maintenance, and responding to inquiries, questions, and concerns from the public.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Supervisor of Recreation to develop and implement a schedule of community festivals and events that meet the needs and interests of the community, both Town led and third party organized.
- Research trends and analyze attendance data in order to recommend changes in existing event schedules and activities and create new innovative events to meet the needs of the community.
- Coordinate logistics and maintain materials and supplies for all Town of LaSalle organized festivals and events.
- Participate in regular meetings of the Special Event Review Team (SERT).
- Coordinate orientation and training sessions for internal and external event stakeholders to ensure understanding and compliance with all Town of LaSalle policies and procedures and relevant Acts and Regulations.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of communication toolkits for third party organized events.
- Collaborate with others to determine work availability of current roster of part‑time employees to provide adequate coverage, ensure compliance with provincial regulations and work within budgetary guidelines.
- Provide regular and timely communication regarding program and event schedules to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate communication and collaboration with the Clerical Assistant for data entry, invoicing and fee processing, document collection and retention and internal work order creations.
- Collaborate with Culture and Recreation staff, Community Groups, Facility Operations, Parks, Emergency Services, and various other partners to ensure effective program and event operation.
- Provide guidance and support to employees.
- Enforce divisional health and safety program.
- Assist other Culture and Recreation areas as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
