Job description

Plainsman Mfg. Inc. is seeking two highly skilled and motivated full-time QC Inspectors (1 day shift and 1 night shift) to join our dynamic Quality Control Team in Edmonton, Alberta.

Job Description:

  • Night Hours: Shift (10hr) - Monday-Thursday 3:15pm to 1:45am.
  • Day Hours: Shift (8hr) - Monday-Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm.
  • Location: 8308 McIntyre Road, Edmonton, AB.

Plainsman Mfg. Inc. is a locally-owned manufacturing and distribution company that has been operating in Edmonton since 1966. With a strong focus on delivering high-quality products for oilfield production, pipeline maintenance, construction, and gas and water distribution, we have established ourselves as a trusted leader in the industry. Our in-house engineering department and full-service manufacturing facility enable us to meet and exceed customer and industry expectations.

Responsibilities: As a QC Inspector, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting inspections of orders to ensure adherence to the quality standards of Plainsman and our customers.
  • Handling non-conformance reports (NCR), corrective action and preventative action (CAPA) documentation.
  • Scanning material test reports (MTRs) for traceability verification.
  • Monitoring and controlling calibration for all measurement devices and ensuring proper calibration is maintained.
  • Perform and document in-house testing.
  • Applying lean principles to the manufacturing process to enhance quality and minimize waste.
  • Adhering to the Quality Management program and promoting a culture of quality throughout the organization.
  • Complying with our Safety program to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • You may be required to perform miscellaneous tasks as requested by your supervisor or manager to support team objectives and maintain operational efficiency.

Skills and Experience Requirements: To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • QC training or relevant QC experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in Oil & Gas related downhole production and completion tools is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in recordkeeping and management to maintain accurate and organized documentation.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and applying corrective actions using methodologies such as 5 Whys, root cause analysis, DMAIC, etc.
  • Knowledge of quality control principles, with an emphasis on quality at the source.
  • Intermediate proficiency in ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) functions to manage inventory, work orders and facilitate efficient processes.
