Job description

Description

Field Applications Engineer – Cameras, Software & Vision Systems

Introduction

As part of Teledyne Technologies, we design and deliver high‑performance imaging and vision solutions that power advanced automation, inspection, and industrial innovation. If you enjoy combining technical expertise with customer interaction, this role puts you at the center of solving real‑world challenges with cutting‑edge cameras and software.

You’ll work closely with sales, engineering, and customers to shape the right vision system for each application—supporting evaluation, integration, and successful deployment. This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role where your technical insight helps accelerate adoption and drive meaningful outcomes.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as the technical expert supporting the sales team, providing clear guidance on imaging technology and system design.
  • Recommend solutions that meet customer vision and inspection requirements.
  • Assist customers in setting up and operating evaluation and development systems.
  • Support project management activities for large OEM engagements.
  • Build and refine demo systems for trade shows and customer evaluations.
  • Deliver technical demonstrations at events and directly to customers.
  • Provide technical support to channel partners.
  • Act as a liaison between customers and internal R&D and manufacturing teams, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.

What you need

  • Required: Strong understanding of cameras, imaging systems, or machine vision technologies.
  • Required: Ability to translate technical requirements into practical solutions.
  • Required: Comfortable working directly with customers and cross‑functional teams.
  • Required: Experience with system setup, troubleshooting, or application support.
  • Advantage: Background supporting OEM accounts or complex technical projects.
  • Advantage: Experience developing demos or proof‑of‑concept systems.
  • Advantage: Familiarity with related software tools or vision platforms.
  • Advantage: Technical degree or equivalent practical experience.

What we offer

  • Opportunities to work with advanced imaging and vision technologies.
  • A mission‑driven environment focused on precision, innovation, and real‑world impact.
  • Collaboration with experts across engineering, product, and sales.
  • Stability and depth as part of Teledyne Technologies.
  • Growth through hands‑on technical challenges and diverse customer applications.

What happens next

Your application will be reviewed by our talent team. Selected candidates will move to a recruiter conversation followed by interviews with the hiring team. Timelines may vary.

Salary Range:

$77,900.00-$103,800.000
