Human Resources Coordinator – T’Sou-ke Nation

About T’Sou-ke Nation

T’Sou-ke Nation is a Coast Salish community located near Sooke on southern Vancouver Island. The Nation’s name, meaning “stickleback fish,” reflects its deep connection to the Sooke River and surrounding lands. With a population of about 350 members, T’Sou-ke is part of the Te’mexw Treaty Association and the Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council. Governed by a Chief and Council, the Nation focuses on self‑determination, cultural preservation, and environmental stewardship.

T’Sou-ke is recognized as a leader in sustainability, known for its solar energy initiatives and commitment to renewable resources. Its programs span health, education, social development, and early learning, while its governance continues to evolve through the implementation of its Land Code. The Nation also manages active fisheries and marine operations, including Salish Straits Seafoods, and leads efforts in habitat restoration and marine safety. Guided by a vision of sustainability and community well‑being, T’Sou-ke Nation continues to balance environmental care, cultural values, and economic growth.

  • Work with the Finance Manager as required to align HR practices with payroll and benefits systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Canada Labour Code and Federal Labour Standards.
  • Maintain accurate records for funding and audit purposes.

  • Assist with policy development, employee relations, and workplace investigations.
  • Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally safe HR practices.
  • Prepare quarterly updates on HR initiatives for Chief & Council.
  • Abide by Band Personnel Policies and uphold the T’Sou-ke Nation Code of Ethics in all interactions and duties.
  • Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work respectfully within a First Nation community.
  • If you’re looking for a role where your work truly makes a difference, this is a chance to contribute to a community that leads with purpose and values people first. At T’Sou-ke Nation, you’ll be part of a forward‑thinking organization grounded in culture, sustainability, and collaboration. This position offers the opportunity to help shape a positive workplace culture, support meaningful initiatives, and contribute to the Nation’s long‑term vision of self‑determination and community well‑being. If you’re passionate about people, process, and purpose, we invite you to bring your skills to T’Sou-ke Nation and grow with a team that’s building a strong and sustainable future.

Please send your resume to Daniela.sanpedro@mnp.ca. Please submit your application through MNP’s official process and avoid making speculative approaches to T’Sou-ke Nation or its staff members, as such approaches will not support your application.
