Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support Industrial, Institutional, and Commercial construction projects across British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented estimating professional with General Contracting experience, strong construction knowledge, and the ability to prepare accurate, competitive estimates across design-build, fixed price, and construction management delivery models.

  • Experience estimating Industrial, Institutional, or Commercial construction projects.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, sequencing, trades, and project delivery.
  • Experience preparing quantity takeoffs, budgets, tender submissions, and cost estimates.
  • Ability to solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using estimating or construction software.
  • High attention to detail with strong accuracy in pricing, scope review, and bid preparation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with design-build, fixed price, and construction management project delivery models.
  • Procore experience is a strong asset.
  • Experience estimating projects across British Columbia, Alberta, or Manitoba.
  • Knowledge of pre-engineered metal building systems is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with CCDC contracts, tendering processes, and subcontractor procurement.
  • Experience with conceptual estimating, budgeting, value engineering, and cost planning.
  • Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, or a related field.
  • Gold Seal Certification or professional estimating designation is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate construction estimates, budgets, and tender submissions for Industrial, Institutional, and Commercial projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Complete quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and general conditions.
  • Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers and ensure bid coverage across all required scopes of work.
  • Review subcontractor and supplier quotations for accuracy, exclusions, inclusions, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Identify scope gaps, risks, opportunities, and potential cost-saving measures during the estimating process.
  • Prepare bid forms, tender packages, clarifications, qualifications, and supporting estimate documentation.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and internal teams to support pre-construction planning and project handoff.
  • Assist with budgeting, conceptual estimating, value engineering, and cost planning during early project stages.
  • Maintain and update estimating files, trade pricing, subcontractor contacts, historical cost data, and bid documentation.
  • Participate in site visits, tender meetings, and client or consultant discussions as required.
  • Support subcontractor procurement and help ensure pricing is complete, competitive, and aligned with project expectations.
  • Track tender deadlines, addenda, and submission requirements to ensure bids are completed accurately and on time.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, templates, cost databases, and bid strategies.
