About Us
Onit and OT Group are growing, and with that growth comes an exciting opportunity to build a stronger, more intentional employee experience. Established in 1988, we've grown into one of Canada’s largest independently owned office technology providers, with locations across Ontario and a team of approximately 60 people.
We’re looking for a part-time HR Generalist who wants to do more than maintain HR processes. This newly created role will help shape policies, support leaders, strengthen culture, and build the people systems that help our team thrive.
Why This Role Is Different
- You’ll build, not just maintain: Create practical HR processes, programs, and tools from the ground up.
- You’ll have real influence: Work directly with leadership on people, culture, growth, and team planning.
- You’ll be trusted: This role comes with autonomy, ownership, and room to make recommendations.
- You’ll see your impact: Your work will directly improve how employees are hired, onboarded, supported, developed, and retained.
Why Join Us
- Competitive compensation and benefits.
- Meaningful part-time role with real ownership.
- Strong work-life balance.
- Professional growth and development opportunities.
- Company social events and a family-oriented environment.
- A chance to help shape the future of a growing organization.
What You’ll Lead
People Support & Employee Experience
- Be the go-to HR resource for employees, managers, and leadership.
- Support onboarding, offboarding, role changes, leaves, accommodations, and employee transitions.
- Help create a workplace where people feel supported, informed, and set up to succeed.
Leadership Partnership
- Coach managers through performance conversations, feedback, documentation, and employee development.
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning, team structure, succession planning, and talent needs.
- Help align HR practices with EOS, accountability structures, and business priorities.
Recruitment & Talent
- Coordinate hiring across technical, operational, and corporate roles.
- Support job postings, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks, and offers.
- Improve onboarding and training so new employees start strong.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and HR documentation.
- Support benefits administration, employee communications, and HR reporting.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario employment legislation, including ESA, Human Rights, OHSA, accommodations, and privacy requirements.
Culture & Continuous Improvement
- Lead or support engagement initiatives, recognition programs, internal communication, and team-building activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR systems, policies, processes, and reporting.
- Bring practical ideas that help the business grow while keeping people at the centre.
Who You Are
- You have three to five years of progressive HR generalist experience.
- You have a post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field.
- You have obtained or are actively working towards a CHRP/CHRL designation.
- You’re confident working independently across a broad range of HR responsibilities.
- You communicate clearly and can build trust with employees, managers, and leaders.
- You know Ontario employment standards and understand how to apply HR best practices with good judgment.
- You’re organized, discreet, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing competing priorities.
- You have a growth mindset and enjoy improving processes, not just following them.
- Entrepreneurial Operating Systems (EOS) experience is an asset but not required.
