The Opportunity
A Controller is being sought to oversee financial operations within the Aggregates division. This is a key leadership role suited for a finance professional who thrives in a multi-site, operationally driven environment.
Reporting to senior finance leadership, this individual will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, providing insights to support strategic decision-making, and ensuring strong financial controls across the division. The role combines technical accounting expertise with business partnership, supporting operational leaders across multiple locations.
This position offers location flexibility within Ontario, along with periodic travel to operating sites. This is an active hiring need driven by ongoing business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly financial statements and cost reports.
- Analyze financial results, identify variances, and provide insights to senior leadership.
- Oversee general ledger and sub-ledger integrity, ensuring accuracy of financial data.
- Develop and deliver regular financial reporting packages to support decision-making.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Support year-end activities, including audit preparation and working papers.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including tax filings and reporting.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial processes.
- Oversee ERP data accuracy and financial system outputs.
- Partner with operational and senior leadership teams in financial review meetings.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across financial operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles.
- CPA designation (asset).
- Experience operating in a multi-entity or multi-location environment.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle experience considered an asset).
- Advanced Excel capabilities, including data analysis and reporting tools.
- Proven experience managing and developing direct reports.
- Exposure to construction, aggregates, or project-based accounting environments is an asset.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license with ability to travel to various sites as needed.
Compensation Transparency
The expected compensation range for this role is $115,000 - $130,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. Additional components of the total rewards package will be discussed during the hiring process.
