RSM US Corporate tax helps Canadian and foreign multi-national businesses and privately held companies navigate the complex tax regime in the US. This includes helping with initial structuring considerations when expanding business into the US, annual tax return compliance requirements from both a federal and state perspective, applicability of tax saving opportunities from credits, incentives and other tax law changes, repatriating cash from the US in a tax efficient manner and planning for possible exit strategies. Additionally, our group also assists Canadian citizens with FIRPTA related filings, Form 1099s for contractor payments, Form 1042s for any FDAP type payments and other cross-border matters.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or detail review international components of complex tax returns
• Demonstrate solid understanding of tax codes, regulations, rulings and case law
• Provide detail review and training staff
• Dedicates time to coaching others in tax software, business process, research skills, technical expertise, planning and project management skills while engaging and motivating team members and providing timely feedback
• Responsible for client work being performed on time and within appropriate scope of services and budget
• Stays alert to client needs that may result in growth opportunities for the firm and communicates to client service coordinator

Required qualifications

• BA/BS Degree – preferably in Accounting or related field of study
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Public Accounting
• Comprehensive understanding of tax law/rules and implications
• Experience with International Tax compliance including, but not limited to forms 1120, 1042, 1065, 1099, 5471, 5472, 8865, 8858 and 1118
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect necessary information for tax service requirements
• Experience with one or more of the following: S-Corps, C-Corps, or Partnerships
• Ability to travel to client sites as needed, some to require overnight accommodations

Preferred qualifications

• CPA, JD or LL.M.
• Experience with a national or large regional accounting firm

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $64,500 - $111,300

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
