Kelowna General Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Switchboard Operator Clerk to join their team in Kelowna B.C.!

This position works rotating days, evenings 06:30 to 14:30, 07:30 to 13:30, 08:00 to 16:00, 10:00 to 18:00, 13:30 to 19:30, 14:30 to 22:30

What Will You Work On?
This position performs a variety of clerical duties associated with operating the switchboard, receiving and registering patients, processing accounts receivable such as:
• Processes calls (internal and external) and establishes communication links.
• Provides information to customers and assists in relaying messages to appropriate source.
• Answers emergency calls and follows established communications procedures in emergency situations such as cardiac arrest, bombs threats and disasters.
• Maintains Physician paging system and after hours physician’s emergency lines as per established protocol.
• Records and organizes data to facilitate the operations of the morgue. Informs appropriate personnel of any unusual circumstances/situations. Arranges transport with funeral homes as required.
• Receives "On-Call" information from physicians and updates data as required. Communicates changes to appropriate individuals needing current, accurate information.
• Receives patent porter requests and dispatches transfers to the patient porter team.
• Maintains confidentiality of classified information and keeps manager informed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

What should your application include?
• Completion of Grade 12
• A 5-minute typing test (45+ NWPM) from a recognized institution, completed within the past 48 months (non-supervised tests not accepted). for testing details.
• Your Resume indicating two years recent related experience, Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
• A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position and on-call, casual work (i.e. days of the week);
