About the Opportunity
We are representing an established, global market leader in the international food trading sector based in Brampton, Ontario. Operating across more than 70 countries, our client is a recession-proof industry giant with a fast-paced, high-volume commercial trading desk.
We are seeking a commanding, strategically minded Senior Operations Manager to take full accountability for their high-volume international maritime division. This is a high-visibility leadership role requiring deep expertise in global container shipping, cold chain logistics, and direct carrier negotiations.

ResponsibilitiesHigh-Volume Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and drive daily operational accountability for a fast-paced team of 15 Logistics Coordinators running approximately 20 shipments each per week (300+ weekly container movements).
Foreign-to-Foreign (Crosstrade) Operations: Oversee complex, global ocean freight corridors. Manage the documentation, compliance, and routing for direct port-to-port shipments that do not transit through Canada.
Cold Chain Management: Take complete ownership of temperature-controlled logistics (ocean reefers) for frozen and perishable food commodities, ensuring absolute cargo integrity from origin to destination.
Direct Carrier Negotiations: Lead high-level ocean contract and freight rate negotiations directly with major global Steamship Lines (SSL) to secure space, optimal pricing, and detention/demurrage free-time extensions.
Continuous Improvement & Technology: Identify operational bottlenecks, streamline intermodal drayage/warehousing, and spearhead the modernization of daily workflows and transit visibility.
Financial & Claims Governance: Direct logistics budgets, manage global RFQ/tender processes, and decisively resolve high-value marine and inland cargo insurance claims.
