Job description

Your Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and collaborative NP team providing care at both the Northeast Community Health Centre and the Strathcona Community Hospital. Both facilities offer 24/7 emergency departments and a variety of ambulatory, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging services. Reporting to the Site Director, you will function in an MRP role, providing care to patients and their families across the lifespan in a variety of clinical settings, including: IV therapy clinic - Providing outpatient antibiotic and non-antibiotic infusions to patients referred from the ED, specialists, and community providers. Emergency Department Transition Clinic – In this innovative clinic, short term follow up care is provided in the outpatient setting to reduce admission to hospital, prevent bounce back to ED, and ensure no patient slips through the cracks. Emergency Department – The ED NP role encompasses innovative solutions to support a busy ED and includes providing care in the waiting room, managing abnormal results, and supporting the unit in general with expertise and leadership. As MRP, you will assess, diagnose, and manage patients independently. You will also work collaboratively with physician colleagues in a team environment for complex patients. As a member of our NP team, you will be self-directed, provide expert evidence-based clinical care, demonstrate leadership, and be a team player. You will excel in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure and in stressful situations. Our high-functioning NP team is a supportive and engaging group, offering opportunities for mentorship, education, and research. Experience with patients across the lifespan is essential for this position.

Description:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be able to support a flexible work schedule. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enable working directly with patients and their family members. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team environment. Ability to function independently. Excel at working in a dynamic fast paced environment. Work well under pressure and stressful situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Application & knowledge of current & ongoing research. Experience in a wide range of assessment, treatment & therapeutic interventions, health promotion, diagnostic procedures, follow-up care in the community considered an asset. Completion of one or more of: ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP, POCUS, TNCC, ENPC. Demonstrated clinical skills in ECG interpretation, wound closure, minor procedures (aspiration, incision & drainage, excision of lesions), fracture mgmt, wound care preferred.
