Job description
Quality Control (QC) Manager

Location: Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta
Compensation: Up to $150,000 annually
Position Type: Full-Time

About the Role:
We have proudly partnered with an industry frontrunner specializing in bespoke construction and asset management solutions tailored for the energy sector. Our client is on the hunt for a highly skilled Quality Control Manager to spearhead their quality assurance initiatives. In this crucial leadership position, your extensive background as a welding inspector and your capacity to guide a team will be heavily utilized and highly respected.

You will step into a fast-paced, deeply synergistic work environment where you are fully empowered to elevate quality benchmarks and champion continuous process enhancements. This is far more than a standard process management role; it is an incredible opportunity to advance your career by collaborating directly with Estimators, Shop Managers, QC Inspectors, and high-profile clients, all while backed by an organization that views integrity and operational excellence as its foundational pillars.

Advantages
Exceptional Earning Potential: Secure a highly lucrative base salary of upwards of $150,000 per year that reflects your senior-level expertise and technical knowledge.

Collaborative & Caring Environment: Become part of a truly supportive workplace that genuinely values its employees and makes cross-departmental collaboration a breeze.

Industry-Shaping Impact: Take pride in delivering bespoke, high-quality fabrication solutions that directly drive success and innovation for major clients within the energy industry.

Continuous Career Advancement: Broaden your professional horizons by spearheading crucial process improvement strategies and managing a vast array of complex projects, spanning custom fabrication, structural steel, and pressure piping.

Unwavering Core Values: Align yourself with a prestigious company that refuses to cut corners, placing unparalleled emphasis on site safety, moral integrity, and top-tier craftsmanship.

Responsibilities
Daily Quality Oversight: Direct the day-to-day quality assurance programs across the fabrication floor, guaranteeing that every single deliverable perfectly aligns with stringent internal protocols, client specifications, and regulatory codes.

Comprehensive Inspections: Command all vital inspection and testing procedures, which includes managing Non-Destructive Examination (NDE), executing pressure tests, evaluating Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and meticulously compiling final turnover documentation.

Client Relations & Alignment: Serve as the face of the quality department during critical client meetings, expertly managing relationships and ensuring that all fabrication outcomes precisely match the client's initial project expectations.

Process Optimization & Defect Mitigation: Take charge of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective strategies to aggressively minimize rework, boost first-pass yield rates, and safeguard the overarching project timelines.

Leadership & Mentorship: Act as the ultimate quality authority on the floor, offering guidance, training, and constructive coaching to a diverse crew of welders, fitters, shop supervisors, and subordinate QC Inspectors.

Qualifications
Professional Experience: You absolutely must possess extensive, hands-on experience working directly within a manufacturing or fabrication shop setting, coupled with a well-documented history as a welding inspector and team leader.

Mandatory Certifications: You hold a valid CWB Level 2 certification at an absolute minimum. (Candidates possessing a CWB Level 3 ticket or a direct background with CWB/ABSA structural fabrication will be heavily prioritized).

Technical Mastery: You boast an exhaustive knowledge of complex welding procedures, NDE, material traceability logistics, and pressure testing, paired with the analytical ability to decipher intricate engineering blueprints and technical specs.

Communication & Relationship Building: You are armed with elite verbal and written communication skills, allowing you to seamlessly navigate high-stakes client meetings, unite cross-functional project teams, and thrive in an accelerated work environment.

Regulatory Knowledge: You maintain a profound, practical understanding of modern quality management frameworks and crucial industry codes, including ASME, CSA, CWB, ABSA, and National Board standards.

Summary
We are actively searching for a natural-born leader who feels right at home heading up client discussions and assembling exhaustive turnover packages from scratch. If you are a certified CWB Level 2 welding inspector equipped with the mandatory fabrication shop background, we are incredibly eager to review your profile!
