Global Technologies Services (GTS) is one of the foundational divisions of the TMX Group that empowers internal TMX business lines for their technology needs, operations and digital innovation. GTS as a client centric organization focuses on building technology capabilities, enabling our clients with the best technology solutions and providing effective technology financial and resource management processes. The cost effective operation is a key attribute of the GTS execution. GTS is responsible for delivery of all technology initiatives and services across TMX.
The Network and Data Center Technician is responsible for the general data center maintenance duties, which includes (but not limited to) cabling and wiring installations, supervising external vendors and documenting changes. The hours of work and locations will vary but the position will be mainly based at our Markham location.

Key Accountabilities:

• Oversee all electrical and mechanical preventative maintenance. Coordinate all work with external contractors and manage physical access.

• Provision data centre space, power and cooling for all new hardware requirements.

• Installation and decommission of all data centre equipment. Responsible for updating all inventory documentation.

• Installation of copper/fiber cable in our data centres, Responsible to update all documentation of network cabling

• Monitor data centre site conditions - complete inspections and coordinate any corrective activities with external contractors as required.

• Work within internal change and incident processes to execute all work within a documented process.

• Liaison with property management groups to coordinate work pertaining to building systems that impact TMX data centres (building power and chilled water system shutdowns and other maintenance work).

• Provide monthly and ad hoc reporting for data centre infrastructure.

Must haves:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Information Technology, Networking, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Strong knowledge of cable management, installing cables & data centre equipment

• Demonstrated knowledge of a large variety of server hardware configurations, ability to assemble and repair server equipment

• Ability to document, record and track changes using tracking systems

• Excellent judgement and decision making ability especially in critical situations

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal

• Strong organizational skills as the role requires updating documentation

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment; troubleshooting and problem solving

• Collaborative team player

• Ability to do repetitive tasks consistently and in a timely manner

• Ability to lift and move large equipment safely

Nice to haves:

• Experience working in a mission critical data center facility

• Solid understanding of network architecture, design and implementation

• Knowledge of electrical power distribution systems and how they are used in a data center

• Familiar with mechanical equipment systems (CRAC, CRAH, evaporative cooling)

Note:

• Working hours: 2pm to 10pm EST Monday to Friday

• Overtime may be required on occasional weekends

• Location: 3500 Steeles Avenue East, Markham, ON with occasion requirements to work at our other office/data centre locations.

Salary Range: $28/h -$32/h CAD
