Scope of the Position

The BI Developer plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining advanced Business Intelligence and analytics solutions that support strategic decision-making across Sonepar Canada. Operating in both on-premises and cloud environments, this position ensures the integrity, performance, and scalability of BI systems. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to resolve complex data challenges, enhance reporting capabilities, and drive continuous improvement in data-driven operations.

Major Responsibilities

• Maintain, develop, and support Business Intelligence solutions in an On-prem and Cloud environment
• Provide production support for client applications. Activities include program analysis, testing and system enhancements. Some support may be outside of normal business hours.
• Resolve complex problems in collaboration with other internal customers or IT teams.
• Perform other data-related activities, including internal team training.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree or Collegial Degree in Information Systems.
• Ability to handle multiple complex tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be fluent in speaking and writing in French and English
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Microsoft BI tools, including SQL Server, SQL Server Analysis Server, Reporting Services, Integration Services, DAX, Excel, Power BI and BI Azure environment
• Good knowledge of Data Lake, Lakehouse Good knowledge in relational database and SQL Query writing
• Experience with Microsoft Azure BI Tools like Databricks, Fabric, Synapse and Azure Data Factory
• Knowledge of Cognos (considered an asset)
• Business knowledge in Wholesale and Distribution spheres (considered an asset)
