Job Title: Millwright
Job Description

This role focuses on the mechanical assembly and installation of multiple conveyor systems and an automated grid structure within a large distribution facility. You will work in small, coordinated teams to install mechanical systems with precision, using hand and power tools, lifts, and other equipment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality. The position involves heavy-duty industrial construction work, including support for commissioning and go-live activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install multiple conveyor systems in a large distribution facility with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Perform mechanical installation of an automated grid structure and associated peripheral systems, including grid install, cladding, false bottom totes, grid finishing, peripheral stations, maintenance area, and charging stations.
  • Work as part of a small team to complete tasks safely and efficiently, coordinating activities and communicating clearly with colleagues.
  • Use a wide range of hand and power tools to perform mechanical assembly, fastening, alignment, and adjustments according to specifications.
  • Operate lifts such as scissor lifts and, where applicable, forklifts to access work areas at height and move materials safely.
  • Work at heights on platforms and elevated structures while following all fall protection and safety procedures.
  • Support commissioning and go-live activities by assisting with final adjustments, checks, and verification of installed systems.
  • Read, interpret, and follow installation instructions, layout plans, and measurements to ensure correct placement and alignment of components.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper storage and handling of tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Follow all site safety rules, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and participate in safe work practices at all times.
  • Bring and maintain the required personal tool set, ensuring tools are in good working condition and suitable for heavy-duty industrial work.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet project timelines, including working extended hours when required to support project milestones.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3+ years of millwright experience in a mechanical or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven experience in mechanical assembly and installation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using hand and power tools in heavy-duty construction or industrial settings.
  • Experience working in construction environments, preferably heavy-duty or industrial facilities.
  • Comfort working at heights on platforms, lifts, and elevated structures while following safety protocols.
  • Experience with conveyors or similar mechanical systems, including assembly and installation.
  • Ability to work safely and responsibly on an active construction site.
  • Ability to work effectively in small teams, communicating clearly and supporting safe work practices.
  • Forklift and aerial work platform (boom or scissor lift) experience, with certification in scissor lift required for all workers before starting.
  • Valid forklift license for at least one in every three workers on the team, with ability to operate forklifts safely as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Mechanical inclination and interest in working with complex mechanical systems and automation structures.
  • Previous experience installing or maintaining conveyor systems or similar industrial equipment.
  • Experience operating scissor lifts and other aerial work platforms in a construction or industrial environment.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced project environment with changing schedules and extended hours when required.
  • Ability to interpret measurements and use basic layout tools such as levels, squares, and measuring tapes.
  • Personal tool set that meets the minimum standard, including socket set (7/16” to ¾”), wrench set (7/16” to ¾”), screwdriver set, hammer, rubber mallet, 6” torpedo level, square, small pry bar, adjustable wrenches (10” and 12”), measuring tape (imperial), allen key set, and drift.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including consistent use of PPE and adherence to site safety procedures.
  • Comfort working in a team where responsibilities may include operating forklifts or lifts as assigned.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large distribution facility with an active construction and installation environment. Standard hours run from approximately 07:30 to 15:30, Monday to Friday, with the expectation of additional hours or schedule changes as project needs arise. During peak periods, you may work up to 60 hours per week, typically in configurations such as five 12-hour shifts or six 10-hour shifts, to be discussed with the project team. Work frequently takes place on platforms and elevated structures, requiring regular use of scissor lifts and, for some workers, forklifts. The environment is heavy-duty and industrial, with ongoing construction activity, material handling, and mechanical installation. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn at all times, and strict adherence to safety procedures is required. Workers are expected to bring their own tools meeting the specified minimum standard, including socket and wrench sets, screwdrivers, hammer, rubber mallet, level, square, pry bar, adjustable wrenches, measuring tape, allen keys, and drift, ensuring they are prepared for the full range of mechanical installation tasks.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
