Job description
The Regional Manager is a strategic and operational leader responsible for the performance, safety, and customer experience of multiple logistics operations across the region. This role drives service excellence, cost efficiency, and employee engagement through disciplined execution and continuous improvement. This role reports to the Director, Transport Canada and is responsible for executing national transport and logistics strategy at the regional level.

Working closely with senior leadership in Operations, Business Development, and Customer Service, the RM ensures regional operations deliver consistent results aligned with corporate values, customer expectations, and growth objectives. This leader builds high-performing teams, embeds data-driven decision making, and cultivates a culture of accountability, safety, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee day-to-day logistics and service center operations across multiple facilities, ensuring compliance with company standards, policies, union agreements and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive performance across key operational metrics — service, productivity, safety, cost, and customer satisfaction.
  • Champion operational excellence through standardized processes, technology adoption, and KPI-based governance.
  • Ensure alignment between local, regional, and national priorities to support consistent execution and scalability.
  • Escalate regional capacity constraints, service risks, and cost trade-offs requiring national prioritization or reallocation decisions

Customer Experience & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the regional advocate for customer experience, ensuring service quality, responsiveness, and high CSAT performance.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Customer Service to enhance onboarding, retention, and service recovery.
  • Partner with Logistics Engineering, Finance and Commercial teams to identify margin improvement opportunities and develop customer-focused service solutions.
  • Champion the use of Salesforce Service Cloud, Optimization, and TMS platforms to strengthen transparency and responsiveness.

Financial & Strategic Management

  • Develop and execute regional business plans aligned with national transport strategy, growth objectives, and cost targets established by the Director, Transport Canada.
  • Manage P&L, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring disciplined cost control and revenue performance.
  • Identify and implement efficiency initiatives that improve cost-to-serve while maintaining service and safety excellence.
  • Contribute to national planning cycles and performance reviews with data-backed insights, providing regional insights and recommendations to support Director-level decision making.

People Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of managers, supervisors and professionals, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, succession planning, and talent development to build leadership depth within the region.
  • Promote an environment that values safety, inclusivity, and employee engagement.
  • Model the company’s leadership values and serve as a visible ambassador of culture and continuous improvement.

Continuous Improvement & Compliance

  • Lead and embed Lean and CI principles to drive waste reduction, process efficiency, and service consistency.
  • Oversee safety programs, audits, and corrective action plans to maintain operational integrity.
  • Partner with CI, IT, and Operations Excellence teams to standardize best practices and enhance process maturity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, LTL, courier, or transportation operations with full P&L accountability. Proven success managing multi-site operations in a complex, fast-paced, unionized and non-unionized environment. Demonstrated ability to drive performance across service, cost, and safety KPIs. Strong background in budgeting, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Expertise with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), logistics optimization tools, and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce). Strong analytical and financial acumen; able to translate data into actionable business insights. Familiarity with Lean / Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Strategic and hands-on leader capable of scaling operational excellence through people and process. Exceptional communicator and relationship builder, adept at influencing across functions and levels. Results-driven with a bias for action, accountability, and data-backed decision making. Committed to developing talent and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% across regional sites. Ability to work in variable temperature environments and conduct facility walk-throughs as required.
