My client is a specialized environmental consultancy operating at the intersection of regulatory strategy, Indigenous engagement, and community-centered impact assessment. 100% Canadian-owned and operated, the firm is known for its collaborative, solutions-focused approach to complex environmental and socio-economic challenges across Canada’s resource, infrastructure, and energy sectors. With deep expertise in environmental assessments and permitting, they support clients through critical project milestones—building trust with regulators, Indigenous Nations, and communities along the way.
They are currently seeking a Hydrogeologist to support the delivery of high-quality, science-based water resource projects across Canada. Reporting to the Water Stewardship Practice Area Manager and Principal Hydrogeologist, this role plays a key part in advancing groundwater science and protecting water systems in complex natural resource and infrastructure settings.
I am looking for a professional who thrives in dynamic project environments, brings strong technical skills, and enjoys mentoring others while delivering work that has a meaningful impact.
Remote / WFH / Hybrid: 100% Remote anywhere in BC, AB or SK
Travel/Fieldwork: 10% (western Canada, YT, NWT)
Salary: $85k - $115k , plus health benefits, RRSP matching, annual bonuses (The final salary will reflect the qualifications, relevant experience, expertise, and professional designations that each candidate brings to the role. Individuals who offer additional strengths or bring exceptional value to the team will be considered for compensation beyond the stated range, as our client recognizes and rewards unique contributions.)
As a key team member, you will:
Lead project delivery – Oversee field programs, technical assessments, and client deliverables to ensure groundwater investigations are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Solve water challenges – Design and implement hydrogeological assessments, conceptual models, and water management plans that inform water supply, dewatering, remediation, and baseline studies.
Drive data quality – Conduct and supervise drilling, hydraulic testing, and groundwater monitoring to generate high-quality, decision-ready data.
Elevate team capacity – Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal best practices, training materials, and continuous improvement across the Water Stewardship team.
Strengthen client relationships – Collaborate with clients, Indigenous groups, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure transparent, responsive, and technically sound communications.
Contribute to business growth – Support proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates that align with client needs and reflect my clients' commitment to value-driven consulting.
Minimum Requirements:
4+ years of progressive consulting experience in hydrogeology for mining, natural resource, or environmental projects
Registered or immediately eligible for P.Geo. or P.Eng. in Canada
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Geoscience, Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, or related field
Strong field experience (e.g. drilling supervision, well installations, aquifer testing, safety leadership)
Proven ability to develop conceptual models, analyze data, and write high-quality technical reports
Effective communicator with strong time-management and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working independently with remote teams
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally
Bonus Points For:
Numerical groundwater or geochemical modeling (e.g. MODFLOW, PHREEQC)
Geophysics and 2D/3D visualization (Leapfrog, ArcGIS, QGIS, Global Mapper)
Experience in water quality management for mines, oil and gas, or renewables
Familiarity with Canadian environmental and water legislation
Past engagement with regulators, Indigenous communities, and stakeholder review panels
Project management or experience mentoring junior staff
In addition to working on innovative, multidisciplinary projects that make a real impact, you’ll be part of a supportive and flexible work environment that prioritizes your growth and well-being. Benefits include the ability to work from home, a competitive compensation and benefits package, group RRSP options, and access to ongoing professional development through conference participation, mentoring, and on-the-job training. You’ll also enjoy regular company retreats, social events, and the opportunity to collaborate with a passionate team of professionals committed to excellence in environmental consulting.
