Job description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager, Stockroom, this role is responsible for inventory control, organization and maintenance for the Vancouver Aquarium’s retail warehouse and Gift Shops. The Warehouse Associate supports the highest level of customer service behind the scenes and on the floor ensuring appropriate stock levels and stepping into the Retail Sales Associate role as needed.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Assist with the Retail Store’s inventory control:

  • Receive, price, and determine proper storage methods and stock location based on turnover and environmental/physical capabilities of facility;
  • Verify inventory of packing slips to physical counts of stock: investigate discrepancies and adjust for errors and defects;
  • Process and coordinate shipments of website and catalog orders;
  • Conduct monthly inventory audits;
  • Assist with the annual inventory audit.

Organizes the retail warehouse and Gift Shops:

  • Restock and maintain product levels in retail outlets; Gift Shop, off-site retail shops, satellite retail kiosks etc.;
  • Transport product between retail locations; company vehicle provided;
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, supplies, tools and equipment; ensure appropriate disposal of garbage, cardboard and recyclables.
  • Perform Retail Sales Associate duties as needed; on the floor cashier, customer service sales etc.;
  • Respond to customers and cashiers’ questions concerning merchandise;
  • Provide assistance and support to warehouse volunteers;
  • Answer phones and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain organizational safety standards;
  • Continually improve our impact on the environment and greening of operations;
  • Perform additional duties of a similar nature or level as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 years of high volume retail sales experience selling products;
  • 1-2 years Customer Service experience or equivalent.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license
  • Excellent internal and external customer service and communication skills
  • High level of consistency and accuracy with data entry and paperwork
  • Excellent judgment and prioritization skills; highly self-motivated
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office: Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to lift and move 20 kgs
  • Active demonstration of the company’s values and missions
  • Flexibility and availability in schedule are required during the week, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Job will occasionally require long hours during the busy season.
  • Ability to work outdoor in all weather conditions

SALARY RANGE: $19 - $25 PER HOUR
