  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance check-ins, and annual reviews for direct reports; support their professional growth and career development.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex HR matters raised, providing guidance and resolution support.
  • Champion a unified, collaborative team culture that reflects the organization's values and commitment to inclusion.
  • Lead or support the development and rollout of HR programs including total rewards, employee engagement, and wellness.

HR Business Partnering

  • Identify people trends and HR risks across the province; proactively develop solutions and escalate where appropriate.
  • Ensure all HR policies and practices comply with applicable employment legislation.
  • Support leave management (including WSIB, STD/LTD, parental leaves), and duty-to-accommodate processes across Ontario.
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS data; generate reports and HR metrics for senior leadership.

  • Design and continuously improve the onboarding experience to drive early engagement and retention.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Investigate and resolve employee relations matters—including complaints, disciplinary actions, and terminations—in a fair, timely, and legally compliant manner.
  • Support performance improvement plans, coaching conversations, and annual review processes.
  • Serve as a resource for conflict resolution, ensuring a respectful and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a people management role (directly leading HR professionals).
  • Strong working knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters and conducting workplace investigations.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing HR teams across multiple locations.
  • Experience providing HR support across a geographically distributed workforce.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Preferred

  • CHRP or CHRL designation (or active pursuit thereof).
  • Experience in a multi-site operation.
  • Working knowledge of WSIB processes, STD/LTD administration, and duty-to-accommodate obligations.
