MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to join our client, a well-established Vancouver developer with 50 years of experience delivering exceptional urban residential communities. With an active Westside Townhome Program and a strong pipeline of at-grade projects across the city, they are expanding their construction leadership team to support continued growth.
This is a fully in-house, long-term opportunity with a developer known for promoting from within and investing in their people. The current portfolio spans active townhome sites across Vancouver's westside, with upcoming projects including new at-grade townhome communities at various stages of design, permitting, and construction. Responsibilities
- Lead construction strategy and execution standards across the townhome portfolio from mobilization through close-out
- Supervise and influence builders, sub-foremen, and trade contractors on active townhome sites
- Guide consultant teams through constructability reviews and efficient low-rise detailing
- Review drawings and specifications to confirm constructability and cost effectiveness
- Benchmark project designs against cost targets and validate builder and trade pricing, quantities, and scope alignment
- Identify value engineering opportunities without compromising quality or finish standards
- Provide hands-on field-level technical direction across envelope, framing, and finishing scopes
- Coordinate with Project Managers and internal teams on sequencing, manpower, and delivery timelines
- Monitor builder performance and ensure adherence to established townhome best practices
- Manage site-level risk, site planning, and constructability considerations in conjunction with the builder group
- Support inspection coordination with municipal authorities and consultants
- Assist with project close-out documentation including O&M manuals and warranties
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on Vancouver townhome construction experience, with a proven track record across multiple at-grade developments
- 2+ years in a senior site leadership or construction management role on townhome or low-rise residential projects
- Strong technical knowledge of low-rise building science, envelope systems, framing, and interior and exterior finishes
- Solid understanding of the City of Vancouver development and permitting process
- Working knowledge of the VBBL Energy Code and its application to low-rise residential construction
- Proven ability to manage cost control, validate trade pricing, and prevent scope creep
- Comfortable working across multiple active sites in a fast-paced urban environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital project tracking tools
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Stable employment history preferred
