Job description

Description:

The Houseperson/Porter supports the housekeeping and banquet teams by maintaining clean, organized, and welcoming hotel spaces. This is a physically demanding position involving frequent lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing throughout the shift.
Set up and take down meeting rooms according to event requirements.
Move, arrange, and store tables, chairs, and meeting-room equipment.
Clean meeting rooms, hallways, public areas, entrances, and staff areas.
Empty garbage and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and spot-clean surfaces as required.
Deliver linens, supplies, and guest-requested items throughout the hotel.
Assist housekeeping staff with linen removal and restocking.
Maintain storage areas and ensure equipment is safely stored.
Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or damaged equipment.
Follow hotel cleanliness, health and safety, and guest-service standards.

Qualifications:

Previous hotel, housekeeping, porter, custodial, or general labour experience is an asset.
Physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
Able to move heavy tables and chairs safely and repeatedly.
Comfortable standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.
Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.
Able to follow instructions and complete tasks within required timelines.
Professional and respectful when interacting with guests and coworkers.
Available to work flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge of WHMIS and safe lifting practices is an asset.
