Description
Located out of our Calgary office, the Marketer, Crude Supply will report to the Supervisor, Crude Oil Marketing. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive incremental business to Inter Pipeline assets and maximizing the netbacks achieved by our producer community.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
• Develop netback strategies to drive volume to Inter Pipeline (IPL) owned assets through competitive pricing proposals
• Evaluate business and market opportunities, including putting together full analysis and proposals as required
• Negotiate and administer crude oil purchase contracts
• Assist with invoicing and settlement to ensure all producers get paid accurately and on time
• Develop and maintain working relationships with industry producers, oil marketers, and refiners
• Identify new potential customers and develop strong relationships with those customers
• Develop and provide competitive intelligence in various drilling areas located in the WCSB
• Develop and continuously update knowledge around the continuously shifting market landscape and infrastructure around W. Canada
• Work closely with traders to understand the market opportunities in the near and medium term
• Assist with contracts management to ensure that they accurately reflect the expected terms of the agreements
• Volume analysis month to month and year over year to identify losses and new potential opportunities for IPL
• Identify risks for IPL’s business areas and develop solutions to mitigate exposures
• Collaborate with other business units within IPL to be able to assist with optimizing efforts for IPL’s assets and maximize revenues
• Proactively identify business risks and opportunities, and pursue risk mitigation, process improvements and business development opportunities
• Perform market research and analysis to understand market dynamics, trends and opportunities to maximize realizations
• Develop and present marketing strategies using fundamentals analysis to support spot and term sales execution
• Provide guidance and advice to internal stakeholders for the purpose of Crude Oil strategy and development
• Work closely with the operations team to mitigate operational, transportation and market disruptions
Education, Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University with a focus on Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field is an asset, but not a necessity
• 5-8 years of Marketing related experience with demonstrated experience in the energy industry, with working knowledge of WCSB infrastructure and North American Crude Oil markets
• Knowledge of crude differential trading systems
• Demonstrates knowledge of the Canadian physical crude oil markets and fundamentals
• Understanding with pipeline nomination systems, tariffs, and processes of feeder and trunk pipeline systems within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin
• Proven ability to negotiate effectively, achieving positive, mutually beneficial outcomes with internal teams and external partners
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships across all stakeholder groups
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Excel & Power BI experience are assets
• Strong work ethic and collaborative mindset, contributing effectively in team environments
• Self starter with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strategic thinker with strong problem solving capabilities
• Able to monitor and communicate pipeline positions, production imbalances, and external factors that may impact business development
