The Gund Company has an immediate opening for a full-time Utility Operator I to join our team!

Shift: 2nd Shift

Hourly Wage: $24.50 - $25.50 per hour based on experience

Shift Premium: 15%

Utility Operator Job I Summary

As a Utility Operator I, you will help in both our Slitting and Sanding departments. You play a key role in supporting production operations, ensuring that parts are fabricated to meet work order specifications and customer requirements. This includes operating and setting up various types of production machinery, conducting manual assembly tasks, and adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities Utility Operator I

  • Operate production equipment such as Slitting equipment and Sanding equipment.
  • Perform manual assembly and fabrication tasks using hand tools and machinery, as necessary.
  • Inspect products to ensure they meet company quality, quantity, and customer standards.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following all safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience.
  • Strong basic math skills and the ability to use measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Flexibility to work overtime and adjust to emergency production needs.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with reading blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience with manufacturing machinery and equipment.

Work Environment Utility Operator I

  • This role is performed in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and chemicals.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
  • The position may involve repetitive tasks and manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform manual tasks as required.
