Job description

Job description:

Position Summary: To perform the day-to-day general maintenance of public, guest and operational areas in a manner consistent with a four diamond property. To assist the Engineering Manager with the day to day operation of the Engineering Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Providing personalized and exceptional guest service at every given opportunity
  • Oversee the operation of the department and supervise and direct the Engineering Team in the absence of the Engineering Manager and Supervisor
  • May be required to perform Duty Manager shifts
  • Represent the Engineering Department at Management meetings as required in absence of Manager or Supervisor
  • Assist the Engineering Manager in the day to day operation of the shop
  • Supervise and direct work performed by outside contractors
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve facility improvements and projects as required
  • Monitor stock levels and condition of shop equipment to ensure adequate service and response levels are maintained
  • Performs general repairs and overall maintenance to plumbing, electrical equipment and mechanical equipment
  • Performs general day-to-day maintenance of public, Guest and operational areas
  • Responsible for the general outdoor maintenance
  • Responsible to respond to guest requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Having a thorough knowledge of Lais Hotel Properties Limited’s products and services
  • Actively seeking ways to meet guests’ product or service needs
  • All other duties as assigned

Professional Requirements:

  • Minimum three (3) years experience in all phases of building maintenance is required as well as electrical, plumbing and carpentry
  • 2 years maintenance experience with Lais Hotel Properties Limited
  • Experience with painting, wallpapering, and large snow removal equipment an asset
  • Possesses maintenance troubleshooting ability
  • Good mechanical and technical knowledge
  • Previous up-selling and/or sales experience is considered an asset

  • Able to pay particular attention to small details

Physical Challenges

  • May require standing for long period of time, heavy lifting and manual labor
  • Ability to withstand extreme temperature variations
