Job description
Job Description

CIMA+’s Infrastructure team combines top-notch skills with an intimate understanding of the local community to deliver customized infrastructure services for municipalities and real-estate developers. We have delivered hundreds of projects across Canada, including innovative solutions for the full spectrum of water and wastewater assets, on time and on budget. We support clients from start to finish, whether for building brand new or assessing, repairing, and expanding on existing infrastructure. Join us and immerse yourself in a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environment where you’ll make a real impact. Together, we’ll push boundaries and go above what’s expected of us to meet the challenges of tomorrow and engineer a better world!

CIMA+ is currently looking for an Electrical Technologist to join our growing Infrastructure team. We are seeking a motivated early-career professional with approximately 1–2 years of experience in electrical design or drafting, ideally within municipal water/wastewater or industrial infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will work on meaningful municipal infrastructure projects – supporting the engineering team with design development, drafting, and project coordination while continuing to build technical expertise in a collaborative environment.

This position offers the flexibility of our hybrid work model, including flexible hours, working from home, work either in our Mississauga, Bowmanville or Kitchener offices.

Opportunity Highlights:

  • Hands-on experience in electrical and I&C design for municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Exposure to the full project lifecycle, from design through construction and commissioning.
  • Mentorship and support from experienced electrical engineers, technologists, and project managers.
  • Opportunities to grow into more advanced technical and coordination responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Support a multidisciplinary design team by assisting Project Managers and Engineers with electrical design tasks.
  • Prepare and modify electrical drawings using design software, including single-line diagrams, power distribution layouts, lighting plans, and control schematics.
  • Assist in the development of Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) designs, including control panels, I/O lists, instrumentation layouts, and basic SCADA system components.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical documents such as specifications, reports, cost estimates, and construction drawings.
  • Perform basic design calculations and assist with quantity take-offs.
  • Participate in field investigations, site visits, and inspections to support design validation and construction activities.
  • Assist with shop drawing reviews and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities.
  • Provide support during construction, including responding to RFIs and assisting with documentation updates.
  • Coordinate with internal team members and support communication with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and ensure adherence to company standards and quality procedures.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in electrical design, drafting, or infrastructure projects (co-op experience considered).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD (or similar design software); experience with Revit is an asset.
  • Basic understanding of electrical power distribution systems and control systems.
  • Exposure to municipal water/wastewater or industrial projects is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable standards is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, self starter and willingness to learn in a team-oriented environment.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
