ABOUT US

Explore Edmonton connects experiences, events, venues, and stories to elevate Edmonton on the national and global stage while creating memories that matter for visitors and residents.

Our purpose is simple. We attract visitors by delivering and showcasing Edmonton experiences that contribute to prosperity and quality of life through the visitor economy.

As stewards of the award-winning Edmonton Convention Centre and Edmonton EXPO Centre, and producers of iconic events like KDays, Canadian Finals Rodeo, and Farmfair International, we help create remarkable experiences that build community pride, strengthen Edmonton's reputation, and generate lasting economic impact.

Our success is built with collaboration. Working alongside industry partners, sponsors, businesses, attractions, community organizations, and each other, we help make Edmonton a year-round destination.

At Explore Edmonton, our people make the difference. Guided by our values of public stewardship, taking a selfless approach, leading with purpose, making an impact, caring for one another, and upholding safety, we're building an organization where employees can do meaningful work while helping shape the future of our city.

If you are looking for a career where your work creates lasting impact for Edmonton and the people who experience it, we'd love to hear from you.

ABOUT OUR GLOBAL MARKETING TEAM

The Global Marketing team inspires travellers to explore Edmonton through out-of-the-box content, stunning visuals, and compelling stories. As part of our year-round marketing strategy, we work in partnership with industry leaders to promote attractions, festivals, business, sport and culture, and agriculture events, and one of the country’s hottest culinary scenes. We shine a spotlight on Edmonton through digital and social marketing, as well as experiential campaigns, connecting visitors to the best authentic Edmonton experiences. This work contributes to the Explore Edmonton family of brands, including the Edmonton EXPO Centre, Edmonton Convention Centre, KDays, Canadian Finals Rodeo, Farmfair International, Urban Farm, and Explore Edmonton Corporation.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Explore Edmonton is looking for a strategic and collaborative marketing leader to join our Global Marketing team as Director, Marketing Accounts.

In this role, you’ll lead the marketing strategy and delivery supporting some of Explore Edmonton’s key business development and consumer portfolios, including Sport & Culture, Business Events and Consumer Marketing. You’ll work across the organization to turn business priorities into integrated marketing strategies that grow visitation, strengthen Edmonton’s destination reputation and contribute to the visitor economy.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Marketing, you’ll lead a team of Marketing Account Managers and work closely with leaders and teams across Explore Edmonton to align priorities, resources and marketing efforts.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the strategic planning, execution and performance of marketing initiatives across assigned business development and consumer portfolios.
  • Partner with business leaders to understand their priorities and translate them into effective marketing strategies, campaigns and measurable actions.
  • Oversee campaign and media planning, digital marketing, branding, web and content marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate across Global Marketing and Explore Edmonton to strengthen integration, share resources and improve how marketing supports organizational priorities.
  • Develop marketing strategies that support increased visitation, economic impact and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Build strong relationships with internal clients, industry partners, tourism and experience providers, clients and event rights holders.
  • Lead business case development, RFP processes and contractor selection for major marketing campaigns and initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve marketing approaches and adjust strategies and resources as priorities evolve.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Marketing Account Managers, setting clear expectations and creating an environment that supports collaboration, accountability and professional growth.
  • Establish annual priorities, targets and measures and monitor performance against those commitments.
  • Develop and manage portfolio marketing budgets, forecasts and expenditures.
  • Contribute to broader Global Marketing and organizational planning and priorities.

What you bring

  • Post-secondary education in marketing, business, communications or a related field.
  • Approximately 8–10 years of progressive marketing and communications experience, ideally with experience leading complex, integrated marketing portfolios.
  • Previous people leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to build and lead collaborative, high-performing teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate organizational and business priorities into practical marketing strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience across traditional, digital and social marketing.
  • Experience providing strategic advice and presenting recommendations to senior and executive leaders.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, writing and presentation skills.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to assess risk, interpret complex issues and make evidence-informed recommendations.
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts and external vendors or contractors.
  • Ability to work across teams, balance competing priorities and pivot effectively as organizational needs change.
  • Proficiency with digital marketing and analytics platforms such as Google Ads, Google Analytics, email marketing, website management and CRM systems.
  • Experience in tourism, destination marketing, venues or events is considered an asset.

What success looks like

You are someone who can see the big picture while still ensuring the work gets delivered. You know how to build strong relationships with business leaders, challenge thinking when needed and bring people together around shared priorities.

You are comfortable navigating complexity, making thoughtful decisions about where marketing resources will have the greatest impact and helping a talented team do its best work.

Most importantly, you understand that great destination marketing is about more than campaigns. It’s about connecting strategy, storytelling, partnerships and experiences in ways that inspire people to choose Edmonton.

Working at Explore Edmonton

This role works within a flexible environment, with in-office time across the Edmonton Convention Centre, Edmonton EXPO Centre and World Trade Centre. Occasional travel and overtime may be required.

HOW TO APPLY

If this role piques your interest, please submit your cover letter and resume no later than September 28, 2026.

Explore Edmonton encourages, supports, and celebrates a diverse and inclusive work environment. We strive to create a workplace that reflects the city we promote and where our employees feel safe and supported every day.
