Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our Community Health Organization in an At-Home Care environment, supporting regional operations across multiple service areas. This role plays a key part in promoting the health, safety, and well-being of our workforce while enabling the delivery of high-quality care to clients in their homes throughout the region.

The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in WSIB Claims Management and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), with demonstrated experience managing workplace injury claims across diverse locations. You will oversee the full WSIB claims lifecycle for a regional workforce, ensuring timely reporting, effective return-to-work coordination, and consistent collaboration with employees, regional leaders, healthcare providers, and WSIB to achieve positive outcomes and cost-effective results.

In this role, you will provide regional leadership and oversight of the Occupational Health and Safety program, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, organizational policies, and best practices across all service areas. This includes conducting and supporting risk assessments in home-based care settings, leading and reviewing incident investigations, implementing corrective and preventative actions, and delivering safety education that aligns practices across the region.

This position is ideal for a highly organized, self-directed professional who thrives in a multi-site, community-based healthcare environment, is comfortable balancing strategic regional oversight with hands-on support, and is committed to fostering a consistent culture of safety and accountability across all locations.

This role requires occasional provincial travel to support regional operations, including attendance at meetings, site visits, and incident or safety-related follow-ups as needed. Travel expectations are as required and rotational, based on operational priorities and organizational needs.

In addition, the position includes rotational in-office work at our Waterloo, Ontario location, balancing in-person collaboration with remote responsibilities. Candidates must be able to travel within Ontario and attend the Waterloo office on a scheduled rotational basis to support team engagement, regional alignment, and effective service delivery.

  • This position offers a competitive compensation range. The salary range is $70,000 to $85,000, and placement within the range will be determined in accordance with company policies and procedures, as well as the candidate’s knowledge, skills, qualifications, and relevant experience.

What The Role Involves

OH&S Administration

  • Completes and assists with safety projects as assigned by Manager, OH&S or designate.
  • Facilitates Operational achievements related to safety policies and programs.
  • Trains and coaches’ managers/designate on hazard identification and required control measures.
  • Prepares instruction sheets, information packages and other materials for injury prevention education and information.
  • Maintains accurate data in employee the injury database.
  • Liaises with joint health and safety committee co-chairs or health and safety representatives.
  • Promotes the goal of a functional and high-quality internal responsibility system.
  • Reviews injury trending data and advises action to address with Operational representatives.
  • Reports critical injuries or occupational illnesses to the MLITSD.
  • Partners with Operational representatives to respond to Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development Inspections and Order resolution.
  • Leads Workplace Violence and Harassment investigations as designated by the Manager, OHS or designate.
  • Conducts regular meetings with Operational management teams to identify and respond to Operational health and safety inquiries.

WSIB Administration

  • Counsels managers/designates on how to respond to employee inquiries with regard to injury claims.
  • Coaches managers to respond to employee inquiries specific to a workplace injury.
  • Coaches managers on how to conduct accident investigations.
  • Reviews with Managers and Team Analyst OH&S legal forms to ensure accuracy of information before submission to WSIB.
  • Directly contacts injured employee for clarification of information related to the employees’ injury.
  • Liaises with legal counsel to obtain advice on unusual circumstances per the direction of the Director, OHS or designate.
  • Monitors claim activity and recommends actions to managers of injured employees
  • Records all activities, costs and decisions associated with accidents in injury management software.
  • Advises management on WSIA compensation practices, procedures and policies.
  • Files objections and makes requests for cost relief to control costs associated with claims
  • Participated in Appeals or Tribunal hearings as requested by the Director, OHS or designate.
  • Conducts bi-weekly conference calls on WSIB claims.
  • Performs other duties as required.

What You Bring

  • College/University degree in Human Resources, or a related field
  • 3- 6 years experience in WSIB Claims Management and OH&S practices
  • Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of injury database systems is considered an asset
  • Superior organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Knowledge/understanding of employment-related legislation, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act are considered an asset.
  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management is an asset.
  • Experience in a unionized setting is an asset
  • Ability to travel throughout Ontario to local branches, as required.
