Job description

Kii Health combines the latest technology with a national network of healthcare professionals to empower healthier living. We support mental health, well-being, and productivity for clients across Canada and the U.S. Our services include Mental Health Support, Occupational Health, Disability Management, Workers’ Compensation Management, Remote Patient Monitoring, and more, all focused on delivering results that matter.

Are you looking to grow your career in healthcare with a company that’s making a real impact? At Kii Health, we’re proud to be one of North America’s most innovative healthcare providers, helping over 10 million people through digital and enterprise health solutions. If you’re passionate about delivering quality, compassionate care, you might be a great fit for our team!

We are actively seeking Casual Occupational Health Nurses to join our growing team of healthcare professionals, supporting clients across Ontario.

As a Casual Occupational Health Nurse, you will offer health services to employees, including surveillance testing such as vision, hearing, and physical exams, education, promotion of positive health models, treatment of illness and injury, and follow-up of ill and injured workers. You will also support occupational health claims, disability management, return-to-work planning, medical surveillance programs, workplace wellness, and emergency response.

This is a casual role with flexible hours based on client requirements. Most hours will be provided on-site at a Kii health office or client location, however remote work may be available at times depending on client demand. Depending on the assignment, shifts may include daytime, afternoon, or evening hours, Monday to Friday.

What You'll Be Doing

The Casual Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for the efficient and effective deployment of Occupational Health Services to employees and management and, where applicable, the day-to-day activities of the health centre.

  • Case management of all occupational work claims (WSIB), including completion of pertinent documentation, submission of forms, and providing regular updates on the status of occupational claims.
  • Manage work reintegration and return-to-work for both occupational (WSIB) and non-occupational (STD/LTD) claims.
  • Manage personal medical time off and return-to-work planning.
  • Manage and maintain an electronic database of all employee health records, including historic and current records.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records and documentation in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.
  • Track employees undergoing treatment for illnesses and injuries sustained during employment and provide appropriate follow-up.
  • Manage the Medical Surveillance Program in collaboration with physicians and client leadership.
  • Perform and/or coordinate medical surveillance activities, including fit-for-duty evaluations, immunizations, X-rays, pulmonary function testing (PFT), respirator fit testing, audiometric screening, vision screening, physical examinations, and other testing as required.
  • Provide Occupational Health metrics as required and requested by the client or functional site manager.
  • Meet with employees as necessary for health and wellness purposes and to address work-related health concerns.
  • Assess employee health concerns and recommend appropriate referrals to physicians, specialists, or other healthcare professionals when required.
  • In conjunction with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), advise when an ergonomic assessment is required to support accommodation and facilitate an early return to work.
  • Provide emergency response care and follow-up as required.
  • Maintain current First Aid, CPR, and AED credentials.
  • Collaborate with onsite physicians and other members of the medical community to develop and support patient treatment plans as required.
  • Participate in and provide leadership for workplace Wellness Programs, including mental health initiatives.
  • Educate employees and management on occupational health, wellness, injury prevention, and other health-related matters.
  • Advise management and employees on issues concerning mental and physical health.
  • Create and manage disease prevention initiatives that promote exercise, healthy eating, smoking cessation, and other positive health practices.
  • In conjunction with EHS, gather the necessary hazard and health data to investigate the effects of specific workplace exposures on employees.
  • Work with business leaders and other stakeholders to support effective disability management and reduce the cost of disability claims and other health-related expenses.
  • Support workplace health and safety initiatives and promote a culture of health and wellness.
  • Maintain communication with employees, management, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders throughout the treatment and return-to-work process.
  • Ensure all documentation and records are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee health information.
  • Other duties as required and assigned.
