Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for Intermediate HVAC Designer. to join our Mining & Minerals business focusing on designing and delivering mining projects globally. This opportunity is Hybrid.

The Role

Reporting to the Mechanical Department Manager, this position is located in our Saskatoon, SK or Vancouver, BC office. This role has overall responsibility for providing HVAC Design support on our major projects within Mining Industries.

Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role.

Expected:

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, CADCAM, Engineering Drafting and Design or equivalent technical program
• 5+ years experience as a Building Services and HVAC designer, preferably with experience in mining and mechanical detailing
• Proven experience with AutoCAD, Plant 3D and/or AVEVA E3D software and excellent knowledge of 3D design/drafting
• Able to perform calculations for detailed equipment design, such as fans, Air Handling units, compressors, duct and pipe sizing calculations
• Self-motivated with good leadership and interpersonal skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
• Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment

Desirable:

• Potash, Uranium or other mining experience
• Design experience with specification generation, stress analysis and mechanical equipment layout, materials handling, piping, and / or HVAC
• Underground mining experience
• Site / construction experience
