Major Job Functions

Strategic Business Development & Market Leadership

  • Initiate and maintain high-level relationships with strategic accounts at the senior and executive level, positioning Finning as a trusted partner in the Power and Data Center sectors.

  • Enhance Finning’s market presence and competitiveness by actively engaging in industry communities and fostering relationships, including First Nations engagement.

  • Provide strategic leadership for business development execution across multiple industry verticals, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and collaboration with cross-functional teams (Supply Chain, Service, Operations, Sales, Pricing & Marketing).

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with Caterpillar and key vendors at all levels.

  • Lead the preparation and management of Rental Equipment Programs and Master Supply Agreements, including coordination with other Finning Rental business units (TCRS, Heavy Rents) and engagement with Contract and Legal teams.

  • Oversee the development and submission of tenders and RFQs, ensuring best-in-class, competitive solutions that meet customer needs.

  • Apply a forward-looking approach by leveraging data insights and customer feedback to develop proactive, innovative solutions.

  • Support Engineering and Project teams in defining technical scopes and designing superior solutions that meet mechanical and electrical requirements.

Business Development

  • Drive new business opportunities by leveraging existing networks and cultivating new relationships within the Power and Data Center markets.

  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset to deliver profitable, sustainable growth through customer-centric strategies focused on innovation and engineering excellence.

  • Identify, assess, and prioritize development opportunities for Finning Power Systems, including generator rentals, equipment sales, aftermarket services, and engineering solutions.

Accountability

  • Recognize and develop strategic business opportunities, preparing business cases that deliver measurable growth and value.

  • Represent Power Systems Rentals and Sales in customer meetings, presentations, seminars, and industry events to support strategic initiatives.

  • Manage key and national accounts, ensuring long-term relationships and alignment with customer objectives.

  • Build and maintain an external network of customers, competitors, partners, and suppliers to identify and capitalize on new opportunities.

  • Lead the preparation and execution of Master Supply Agreements, RFQs, and large-scale contracts.

  • Collaborate with Sales and Industry Managers to establish sales targets and objectives.

  • Partner closely with Rental Sales teams to drive new customer acquisition and revenue growth.

  • Maintain strong relationships with Operations and Project Management teams to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.

  • Develop and implement effective reporting to keep stakeholders and senior leadership informed on key metrics.

  • Actively participate in industry associations, trade shows, and customer events to strengthen Finning’s market position.

  • Ensure adherence to all Finning policies and procedures, representing the company professionally and ethically at all times.

Education, Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Education: University degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent experience.

  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of senior-level sales or business development experience with a proven track record of driving growth in large account sectors and leading high-performing teams.

  • Strategic thinker with strong entrepreneurial mindset and expertise in planning, execution, and marketing principles.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Energy industry, Caterpillar Power Systems products, and technical product applications.

  • Advanced leadership and coaching capabilities, complemented by exceptional presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Outstanding communication, persuasion, and networking abilities to build relationships across all management levels.

  • Strong understanding of financial management, contract negotiation, risk management, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to anticipate and respond to market dynamics, customer expectations, and emerging technologies.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM tools, with strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Deep understanding of Finning business practices, policies, and industry challenges.
