Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Data Governance Analyst to join our Canada Data Governance team. In this role, you will play a critical leadership role in advancing data governance practices across the Canada segment, ensuring data is trusted, high quality, compliant, and accessible as a strategic enterprise asset. You will work closely with Global Data Governance, Data Owners, Data Stewards, Technology teams, and business stakeholders to drive governance maturity and deliver measurable outcomes. This opportunity allows you to lead complex, enterprise-wide initiatives while operating independently and influencing across a global, matrixed organization.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and drive the execution and continuous improvement of the data governance program across the Canada segment, including operating model, policies, standards, KPIs, and governance processes

  • Oversee core governance capabilities, including data catalog and metadata management, data quality management, data access controls, Data Share Requests (DSR), and access audits and monitoring (e.g., DA Dashboard)

  • Own and lead business-as-usual (BAU) data governance activities, ensuring adherence to enterprise standards and timely resolution of data governance issues

  • Translate Global Data Governance strategies and KPIs into actionable plans for Canada; monitor performance, identify gaps, and implement improvements

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Data Owners, Data Stewards, Delegates, and business and technology stakeholders on governance best practices, policies, and tooling

  • Identify, prioritize, and lead process improvement initiatives, including automation and scaling opportunities using advanced tools and AI-enabled capabilities

  • Lead data quality initiatives by partnering with stakeholders to identify and prioritize issues, perform data profiling and root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions

  • Define, implement, and monitor data quality rules using Informatica Cloud Data Quality (CDQ) or other approved tools

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and advanced user of Informatica data governance and data quality platforms, including CDGC, CDI, and CDQ

  • Collaborate closely with Global Data Governance teams and the broader governance community to improve governance maturity and ensure alignment with enterprise standards

  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Manulife’s data and application architecture to support effective data access decisions, Data Share Requests, and governance implications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data/Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data governance, including data catalog, data quality, and data access management in a large enterprise environment

  • Strong hands-on experience using Informatica tools, including Cloud Data Governance & Catalog (CDGC), Cloud Data Integration (CDI), and Cloud Data Quality (CDQ), as an advanced or power user

  • Advanced data analysis skills, including data lifecycle management, data profiling, and issue investigation

  • Strong SQL and querying capabilities

  • Experience with Databricks and Python, preferably in Azure-based enterprise data platforms and data lake environments

  • Experience in data visualization, reporting, and interpreting data insights

  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively with business and technology stakeholders across a matrixed organization

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting governance concepts and recommendations to leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing and scaling enterprise data governance frameworks across multiple domains

  • Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture and governance within cloud-based ecosystems

  • Experience working with data governance automation, AI-enabled solutions, or advanced analytics capabilities

  • Familiarity with audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements related to data governance

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive organizational change

When you join our team:

  • We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.

  • We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.

  • As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see.

The role being advertised is an existing vacancy.
